A Fresh Spanish Identity
On Friday, ZETA Gaming have officially lifted the veil on their revamped VALORANT VCL Spain roster, signaling a bold new chapter ahead of Stage 3. Daniel “mallyd96” Mallén, Alejandro “Z3R0VL” León, Álvaro “aveyVLR” Velasco, Akira “Akira_VLRT” Tanaka, and Davide “Davia” Cusmai are joining the Spanish organisation.
With a complete rebuild, ZETA’s new iteration is more than just a roster change; it’s a shift in philosophy. Known in previous years for relying on established names, this time the org has opted for raw potential and regional pride. The core of this lineup is a renewed emphasis on Spanish identity: three out of the five players hail from Spain, each with roots in local subcircuits and open qualifier scenes: mallyd96, Z3R0VL, and aveyVLR.
Youth, Hunger, and Untapped Talent
ZETA’s recruitment strategy reflects a willingness to gamble on youth and upside. None of the Spanish players have Tier 1 experience, yet all have stood out in grassroots competitions and Rising Open qualifiers. Mallyd96, the veteran of the group, is expected to take on the in-game leader role, bringing structure and confidence to mid-round decisions.
Z3R0VL is a known quantity in local circles, an entry fragger with a knack for high-impact opening duels. Finally, Akira_VLRT and aveyVLR bring adaptability, strong map presence, and the kind of utility flexibility that allows for creative compositions. As for Davia, the former EMEA Contenders talent brings a stabilizing presence and a keen eye for spacing, a perfect counterbalance to the aggressive tendencies of the trio.
