The match between XLG Esports and NOVA Esports has been postponed to July 31
Originally scheduled for July 30, the VALORANT Champions Tour China (VCT CN) match between XLG Esports and NOVA Esports has been postponed to July 31. The decision comes in response to extreme weather conditions in Shanghai caused by Typhoon Co-May, which marks the eighth tropical storm to hit China this year.
As a safety precaution, VCT CN officials delayed the match that was set to take place at the VCT CN Arena in Shanghai. On Wednesday afternoon, Shanghai’s Central Meteorological Observatory raised its weather alert from yellow to orange — the second-highest level. Between Tuesday evening and 10 AM on Wednesday (2 AM GMT), "282,800 people were evacuated," according to state broadcaster CCTV.
The Chinese League of Legends Pro League (LPL) was also forced to postpone the match between Invictus Gaming and Bilibili Gaming for the same reasons.
Schedule Adjustments
As of now, only the XLG vs NOVA matchup has been rescheduled, since the rest of the week’s matches were already set to begin on July 31. The league’s regular format, with one match on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by doubleheaders on Friday through Sunday, has been slightly disrupted.
Instead, starting Thursday July 31, VCT CN will feature two matches per day to accommodate the rescheduled fixture. The postponed match between XLG and NOVA will be played at 11:00 AM CET, followed by EDward Gaming vs. JD Gaming at 1:00 PM CET.
