Franchised format to unite Brazil and South America
According to information obtained by VCTAtualizado on X, Riot Games is preparing a major overhaul of the South American VALORANT competitive circuit with the creation of a franchised league bringing together both Brazilian and South American teams. This initiative would be part of the transition and changes planned for 2027, at the end of the current VALORANT Champions Tour format.
The new league, as detailed by VCTAtualizado, would adopt a hybrid format, combining fixed spots for partnered organizations with open qualification slots for the best Tier 2 teams. This setup would be similar to the model introduced this year for League of Legends’ LTA South and North. The aim is to provide greater economic stability for organizations in the region while maintaining the competitive standard of the scene.
Reinvigorating Tier 2
As the Brazilian insider reports, Tier 2 organizations such as RED Canids, LOS, and Team Solid have ramped up their investments in VALORANT Challengers Brazil (VCB) in recent months with the goal of securing a spot in this potential future competition. Other organizations already working closely with Riot in other leagues—such as the LLA South or Circuito Desafiante—are also showing interest in VALORANT ahead of these potential changes.
At the same time, Riot is said to have begun discussions with Brazilian Tier 2 teams to assess operational costs and potentially explore support measures. These adjustments are intended to strengthen the local competitive scene and lay the groundwork for a more robust ecosystem ahead of the possible franchised league.
