A stacked off-season LAN in New York
Red Bull Home Ground 2025 brought top-tier VALORANT back to LAN in style, as the fifth edition took over the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City from 13 to 16 November. The offseason event gathered some of the biggest names in the scene: defending champions T1, Fnatic, G2 Esports, Sentinels, ZETA DIVISION, and freshly crowned Champions 2025 winners NRG all headlining the main event, while Cloud9 and Cubert Academy (Sentinels Academy) clawed their way in through the play-in.
Through three days of main stage play, G2 Esports made the loudest statement, sweeping NRG 3–0 in the grand final to lift their second Home Ground trophy after the inaugural 2021 edition. NRG's run to the final, a dominant upper-bracket showing capped off by a 2–0 over ZETA DIVISION, confirmed that the reigning world champions are very much contenders despite a key roster change.
In between, the crowd was treated to a pure entertainment break: a showmatch pitting Team TenZ against Team Ludwig, where Tyson "TenZ" Ngo led a superstar lineup featuring Max "Demon1" Mazanov, Timmy "iiTzTimmy" An, Emir Ali "Alfajer" Beder, and Gustavo "Sacy" Rossi in a 13–7 win that kept the atmosphere light before the serious business of the grand final.
Contenders locked in
New York represented the first big LAN of the post-Champions era for NRG, and the first event featuring their completed 2026 roster: Brock "brawk" Somerhalder, Adam "mada" Pampuch, Logan "skuba" Jenkins, Ethan "Ethan" Arnold, and Georgio "keiko" Sanassy, the latter arriving in place of Sam "s0m" Oh as he steps back from competition.
The team looked immediately functional: brawk’s utility work and Ethan’s experience stabilised the mid-rounds, while skuba continued to impose himself as one of the most reliable Controllers in the world. Even if the 3–0 scoreline in the final will sting, NRG leave Home Ground with a clear identity and proof that the keiko gamble doesn’t disrupt the system that carried them to the world title earlier in the year.
On the Fnatic side, Red Bull Home Ground marked a first real test for Jake "Boaster" Howlett's new-look five alongside Austin "crashies" Roberts, Kajetan "kaajak" Haremski, Alfajer and Sylvain "Veqaj" Pattyn. A fourth-place finish, with a clean victory over Cloud9 and a tight overtime loss against G2 in the lower bracket, painted a picture of a roster still ironing out details but already competitive against the very best.
crashies slotted in seamlessly as the backbone of Fnatic's defensive setups while Veqaj brought welcome aggression on the edges of the map. If anything, Home Ground showed this version of Fnatic has a solid floor and plenty of room to grow once roles and synergy fully settle.
ENVY's teenage puzzle
For ENVY, they chose to approach New York as both a reward and a potential turning point. The North American squad earned its spot through the Americas qualifiers with a high-octane core built around Alex "canezerra" Banyasz, Evan "Eggsterr" Grady, Matteo "P0PPIN" Weber, Hunter "Inspire" Schline, and Ayan "ion2x" Rastogi.
Their Home Ground run stopped in the play-ins after a loss to BXL Zoo, followed by a consolation win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Still, the result matters less than the context: canezerra, born in 2008, and Ion2x born in 2009, are two of the most hyped prospects in Tier 2, yet both remain ineligible for tier-one VCT leagues, where the minimum age is still 18 for full-fledged participation. This Home Ground appearance could genuinely be one of the last times we see this exact five together on a big stage before Riot's age rules force the organisation to rework the starting lineup.
Red Bull Home Ground 2025 didn't just crown G2 as off-season king, it offered a condensed look at what early-2026 meta and rosters might look like. NRG and FNATIC are leaving New York with reassuring signs that their off-season choices are paying off. ENVY's teenage stars reminded one and all that the next wave of VCT-ready talent is already knocking on the door, even if paperwork and birthdays have to catch up first.
