Omen W
As the Champions Paris 2025 kick off this Friday, September 12, Riot Games has revealed ahead of the tournament the three most played agents by region during Stage 2 of the VALORANT Champions Tour. And to everyone’s surprise, Omen, Viper, and Sova sit firmly at the top across all four International Leagues, even though we should expect to see a few shifts as the World Championship unfolds.
Omen domination
The first and by far the most dominant is Omen. The Controller did not drop below a 74% pick rate on average across all maps in VCT Pacific, and even reached an astonishing 86% in China. His supremacy covered five of the seven maps available in the competitive pool, where the smokes expert rarely dipped under 90% pick rate, except on Bind and Icebox. On those maps, teams tended to prefer Brimstone or opted for a single-Controller composition, with Viper filling the role most of the time.
His dominance is even more striking when looking at specific maps. Omen was picked in 100% of matches on both Haven and Sunset, regardless of the league. He also reached nearly 99% on Ascent and 98% on Lotus. Altogether, he appeared in around 80% of team compositions throughout Stage 2. With Icebox now removed from the map pool for Champions Paris, his influence is expected to grow even further.
The best Initiator
This is also where Sova’s place in the rankings might be challenged. While he remains the most used Initiator ahead of Fade, the rest of the agents in his class are barely represented. The Russian agent was the king of Icebox, but with that map leaving the pool and Abyss returning in its place, his relevance could take a hit. On Icebox, Sova enjoyed a staggering 93.5% pick rate, being locked in every single time in VCT Americas and Pacific, with only a slight dip to 86% in China.

In China and in EMEA, his strongest showing came on Haven, where he reached 95% and 97% pick rates respectively, ahead of Ascent and Icebox. With the upcoming changes in Paris, Fade is likely to climb into the top three, even if her strong presence so far has been limited mainly to Lotus, Corrode, and Bind during Stage 2.
Meta double Controller
On the second step of the podium sits another Controller, none other than Viper. She appeared in nearly 52.75% of agent selections, far behind Omen’s 80 percent but just above Sova’s 52%. Her spot reflects the current meta, where double-Controller setups are common, with Viper frequently paired alongside Omen.
Viper is most prevalent in VCT Americas, while EMEA is the region where she is least favored, with “only” 46% usage. Just like Sova, she was nearly omnipresent on Icebox and will likely be affected by the map’s removal. Yet she remains an essential pick on Bind and is carving out space for herself on Corrode, the game’s newest addition, where she already reached an impressive 70.25% pick rate.
