50 million monthly active users for VALM and VALORANT
Less than four months after its release, VALORANT Mobile has already established itself as the biggest mobile game launch of the year in China, according to Tencent’s financial report published on November 13. The title, co-developed by Riot Games and its Chinese parent company, had already generated close to one million dollars on iOS and reached 170,000 downloads on its very first day, according to Bloomberg.
These figures were followed by an official post revealing more than 50 million monthly active users in China, between VALM and VALORANT PC. It should also be noted that the record on the same day, only in China, for the original version of VAL is two million active players.
An unprecedented success
Since its market debut on August 19, VALORANT Mobile has capitalized on a massive pre-registration campaign exceeding 70 million sign-ups, supported by a remarkably faithful adaptation of the original PC gameplay. As of now, the game features nearly twenty agents, seven maps, and eight different game modes, along with exclusive cosmetic items specially designed for mobile players.
Tencent continues to invest heavily in the title, supporting its success through competitive circuits and the launch of a national league. This esports-oriented strategy is already paying off, with participation from some of China’s biggest organizations such as EDward Gaming and All Gamers, as well as a growing collegiate scene involving major universities across the country.
To sustain this meteoric rise, Tencent and Riot Games had announced, before the official release, a $200 million investment plan dedicated to VALORANT Mobile’s development in the Chinese market. This fund, spread over several years, aims to strengthen the game as a whole, from expanding its content and features to improving its technical and social infrastructure and building a structured competitive ecosystem.
Despite all this success, the question of a global release still remains unanswered. Tencent and Riot have yet to make an official statement, but several insiders are already hinting at possible announcements around February 2026, potentially accompanied by a dedicated content creator event.
