A fifth day defined by elimination
On Monday, the fifth day of the VALORANT Game Changers Championship 2025 in Seoul marked the beginning of do-or-die matches in the lower bracket. Two decisive series were on the schedule: MIBR GC versus Ninetails, followed by Nova Esports GC against KRÜ Blaze. For all four teams, the equation was as simple as it was unforgiving: win to stay alive in the tournament, lose and go home. By the end of the day, the lower bracket had delivered its verdict: the Brazilians of MIBR GC and KRÜ Blaze extended their run with two 2-0 victories, while Ninetails and Nova Esports GC were eliminated and exited the competition.
MIBR GC keep their run going
Matched up against Ninetails in Lower Round 2, MIBR GC produced a highly controlled performance, taking the series 2–0 with two one-sided scorelines, 13–5 on Split and 13–4 on Bind. From the opening Korean map pick, the Brazilian side seized control of the server, driven in particular by Nicolas "srN" Niederauer, once again at the centre of their offensive structure.
Across the series, the Brazilian Initiator recorded 49 kills with a 1.86 rating, reaffirming her status as MIBR’s statistical engine. She was backed up by Paula "bstrdd" Naguil, who posted a 1.45 rating over the match, while Camila "sayuri" Obam and Giulia "lissa" Lissa locked down space and provided considerable stability in mid-round scenarios.
On the other side of the server, Ninetails were never able to rediscover the explosiveness they had shown in their victory over Xipto Esports GC. Jo "DaNa" Se-won remained the primary Korean threat, finishing with 22 kills and several attempts at aggressive openings on both Split and Bind, but her impact was not enough to disrupt MIBR’s momentum. Park "332" Min-ju, Kim "EveR" Ji-min, Park "h4ste" Ju-hwi and Jeong "FullMoon" Ye-jin could not find the adjustments required to withstand MIBR’s constant pressure, particularly around mid, where the Brazilians consistently won the economic battle and the pivotal duels. With this decisive win, MIBR GC advance to Lower Round 3.
KRÜ Blaze overturn Nova Esports GC
In the second match of the day, KRÜ Blaze brought Nova Esports GC’s run to an end with a 2–0 victory, following an especially hard-fought opening map. On Split, KRÜ’s map pick, both teams traded rounds all the way into overtime, but the Latin American side ultimately edged out a 16–14 win before closing the series far more cleanly on Haven, 13–4. From a statistical standpoint, Montserrat "mmonch" Rivera Gutierrez delivered one of the standout performances of the day, with 43 kills and a 1.43 rating across the series.
The Mexican player consistently came out ahead in duels, particularly on the defensive side of Split. Alongside her, Micaela "micaela" Ferreyra and Caue "dods" Fernandes completed KRÜ Blaze’s leading offensive trio, both surpassing the 40 kills mark over the two maps, while Beatriz "biazik" Begnossi and Constanza "conir" Reyes handled much of the utility work and space creation for their teammates.
On the Nova Esports GC side, the series came to an end despite another solid showing from Kelly "shirazi" Jaudian, the team’s top performer with 40 kills and a 1.16 rating across both maps. Annitta "alyssa" Peerwantanagul and Wang "Clem" Ke-ching attempted to keep pace with the tempo imposed by KRÜ, but Nova ultimately faltered in the key rounds, particularly on Haven, where the Chinese attack could not find consistent answers against KRÜ Blaze’s structured defence.
With this result, KRÜ Blaze join MIBR GC in Lower Round 3 and earn another opportunity to stay in contention at the tournament, while Nova Esports GC exit the Championship after a campaign characterised by a strong start but two consecutive defeats, against G2 Gozen and then the Latin American side. For the teams still in contention in this lower bracket, the next step will depend on the outcome of the two upper-bracket semi-finals, which will determine their potential opponents further down the line.
