leaf health issues are hopefully now fixed
A little over two months after his last official match with G2 Esports, Nathan “leaf” Orf has provided an update on his situation. Following Masters Toronto, the American player faced health issues that forced him to step away from competition.
G2 later confirmed that their Sentinel would also miss the start of VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Americas Stage 2. In fact, leaf has not played with the team since June 20th. He was replaced by fellow American Andrej “babybay” Francisty—a move that has worked out well for the Samurai so far. After finishing second in Group Alpha, G2 remain undefeated in the playoffs with victories over 100 Thieves and NRG. They are now set to face Sentinels for a spot in the Grand Final, though their Champions 2025 qualification is already secured via Championship Points.
Coming Back Soon?
On August 23rd, leaf shared an update on x. The G2 player revealed that he had been hospitalized for two weeks but has since been discharged, adding that his health issues are hopefully now fixed. He explained that he had been suffering from severe Crohn’s disease symptoms, which caused extreme pain, intense fatigue, and difficulty eating.
In the second part of his message, leaf thanked both people for their support and babybay for stepping up in his absence. He also noted that he has been following scrims and official matches closely, while playing on his side and that he is eager to return as soon as possible. leaf also mentioned G2’s two main goals for the year: securing a third consecutive VCT Americas title—after winning the Kickoff and Stage 1—and the upcoming Champions in Paris. The only question left is when he will be able to rejoin the roster full-time.
