New staff, four signings for Stage 2
FURIA unveiled on Monday, July 14 and Tuesday, July 15 the signing of four new players and a new coaching staff for Stage 2 of the VCT Americas. Struggling throughout the 2025 season, the Brazilian organization has made major changes in hopes of qualifying for Champions, which will be held in Paris this September. Neymar Jr.'s club also announced that its two coaches and one of its newly signed players will not be present in Los Angeles for the launch of this new stage.
For their new coaching staff, FURIA have brought in Ian "shaW" Jardim as head coach and Lucas "Kamino" Kamino as assistant coach. Kamino previously worked as an analyst for Team Liquid’s Game Changers roster, where he helped the team finish second at the 2023 VALORANT GC Championship and third in the 2022 edition. shaW, on the other hand, has experience in Brazil’s Challengers league with Galorys and most recently with Red Canids, where he held the same coaching position. He now replaces Pedro “peu” Lopes in this role.
New players and new hope
shaW is also reunited with Brazilian Sentinel Victor "Urango" Rodrigues, who also played for Red Canids earlier this year. Urango already stood in for FURIA during the Esports World Cup qualifier, alongside two of his new teammates. Davi "Palla" Alcides, formerly of Stellae Gaming in the Brazil Challengers, and Arthur "tuyz" Vieira, who spent two and a half years with LOUD in the VCT Americas, also attempted to help FURIA qualify for the EWC — though unsuccessfully.
This trio has now been officially confirmed by the organization for Stage 2, along with a fourth player, Luiz "basic" Tessaro. The Brazilian Initiator joins the VCT Americas after just a few months in the professional scene and a single split with the academy roster of 2Game Esports. A rapid rise, justified by standout statistics at his role, including 0.57 assists per round and 81% KAST during his only competitive segment. These impressive numbers have quickly made him one of the most promising young talents in the local scene. Unfortunately, due to visa issues, he will miss the opening match against Cloud9 and will be replaced by Benjamín "adverso" Poblete, who was recently released by KRÜ Esports.
FURIA has undergone many changes in what has been a very difficult competitive year so far, with a 9th–12th place finish at Kickoff and an 11th–12th place finish in Stage 1. They were also the first team eliminated in the EWC qualifier and finished last at the Tixinha & Sacy Invitational, a tournament outside the official circuit. The Brazilian organization now hopes these changes can turn things around, with the ultimate goal of qualifying for Champions Paris.
