DRX keeps its gem
As announced by the organization on Tuesday, Kang "BeYN" Ha-bin will continue his journey with DRX in 2026 and 2027, following the renewal of his contract, which was initially set to expire at the end of this season. After securing a third-place finish at VALORANT Champions Paris, the South Korean organization seems determined to stick with its full roster, re-signing the only player whose deal was set to end in 2025.
Joining DRX in 2022 as part of the academy roster, BeYN has spent nearly his entire professional career within the organization. In early 2024, he was promoted to the main team competing in the VCT Pacific. His addition played a key role in helping DRX qualify for their first-ever international LAN, Champions Seoul 2024. The team carried that momentum into 2025, starting the year strong with a first-place finish at the Kickoff event, which earned them a direct spot at Masters Bangkok. However, once in Thailand, DRX struggled to find their rhythm and finished in a disappointing Top 5–6 after two losses in the Swiss stage.
Mixed results across the year
The rest of the season proved more challenging. DRX failed to qualify for Masters Toronto after finishing Top 4 in VCT Pacific Stage 1, but narrowly secured a spot at the Esports World Cup. Unfortunately, their struggles continued in Saudi Arabia, where they were eliminated in the group stage, finishing third behind BBL Esports and Sentinels. A strong comeback in Stage 2 earned them a runner-up finish in the Pacific League and a fourth regional seed for Champions Paris 2025.
In France, DRX placed second in Group C behind NRG Esports before embarking on an incredible lower bracket run in the playoffs. In their opening playoff match, they couldn’t overcome the European powerhouse Fnatic and dropped to the lower bracket. There, they began an impressive streak — defeating tournament favorites G2 Esports 2–1, repeating the same score against MIBR, and then sweeping Paper Rex 2–0 to reach the lower bracket final. Facing Fnatic once again, the South Korean squad couldn’t get their revenge and ended their Worlds campaign with a respectable third-place finish after a 3–1 loss.
