Mandatory watch their dream slip away before their eyes
The two VCT Ascension EMEA finals were held on Saturday, 25 October, and Sunday, 26 October in Berlin at the Riot Arena. On the French side, Mandatory faced the Turkish roster ULF Esports, a team that emerged from the very first qualifier, having navigated every stage of the circuit to earn a shot at tier-one.
The match proved brief, ending in a clean 3–0 victory despite overtime on Sunset, with ULF looking the stronger team on the day. Efe “s0pp” Tur stood out on the scoreboard with a 74/47/10 KDA across the best-of-five.
Mandatory, collapsing at the threshold of the VALORANT Champions Tour is disappointing, yet this remains their best showing on the EMEA stage since the team’s inception. It is an encouraging sign for the Hammers, who can only aim for and fight toward qualification next year.
Turkey on top of Europe
In the second final, BBL PCIFIC met DSNTY with the remaining VCT EMEA slot at stake. This time the contest felt tighter, with pushback on both sides, but after DSNTY claimed the opener, PCIFIC settled into a solid, structured game plan and took the next two maps to secure qualification on Corrode. Utku “Loita” Kart distinguished himself with remarkably few lost duels and frequent multi-kills that repeatedly tilted rounds in his team’s favor, alongside consistently sound strategy and an almost prescient read on DSNTY’s movements.
As in the previous two maps, BBL closed out the decider 13–6, sealing the final VCT EMEA berth and joining ULF and the region’s partnered teams for next season temporarily.
For both teams, the focus now shifts to preparing for the upcoming season. Some players may attract interest from existing VCT organizations, and the teams themselves may contemplate roster changes in the months ahead.
