Back-to-back champions
On Thursday, Team Falcons secured victory at the 2025 Esports World Cup with 4900 points, four days before the competition officially concludes. However, the rest of the overall standings are still very much up for grabs, especially when it comes to the remaining podium spots between Team Vitality (4050 points) and Team Liquid (4200 points). The Saudi organization, which also triumphed in 2024, is once again on top of this tournament held in Saudi Arabia, organized by the royal family and largely aimed at the local audience. With this achievement, they are set to claim the $7 million prize promised to the champions.
Competing in 21 of the 25 games featured at this year’s event, Falcons entered as the overwhelming favorite thanks to their immense resources and unmatched presence across the EWC. Beneath them, only Virtus.pro (17 appearances), Twisted Minds (14), Team Liquid (13), and Team Vitality (11) looked capable of keeping pace with the Saudi royal family’s club. Unsurprisingly, these five organizations currently occupy the top five positions in the Club Championship, and they are guaranteed to remain at the top until the end. The exact order, however, will depend on the outcomes of the remaining tournaments in Counter-Strike 2, Crossfire, and Street Fighter 6.
How does it work?
The Esports World Cup club ranking operates on a cumulative points system designed to reward the most consistently successful organization across all titles. To qualify for the Club Championship, a team must finish in the top 8 of at least two tournaments. To actually win it, they also need to claim first place in at least one event. If that condition is not met, the title automatically goes to the highest-scoring eligible club.

To reach this position, Team Falcons had to perform strongly across multiple games. Their only outright tournament victory came in Overwatch 2, but they also finished second in both Dota 2 and Chess, and secured third-place finishes in PUBG: Battlegrounds and Rocket League. Combined with points collected in many other competitions, it was enough to clinch the overall crown, though they have been notably less dominant than in 2024.
That shift makes sense, especially as more organizations now treat the EWC as a key strategic objective, with the financial incentives growing too significant to ignore. Beyond Falcons’ $7 million payday, nearly $20 million in prize money remains to be distributed among the other clubs, including $4,000,000 for second place, $3,000,000 for third, and $2,500,000 for fourth.
