New project for the portuguese player
According to sources close to Sheep Esports, Tomás “tomaszy” Machado has reached a verbal agreement to join CGN Esports for the third split of the German league, the Challengers DACH. The Portuguese player has been benched by GIANTX since Week 3 of Split 1 in the VCT EMEA back in early April, and is now expected to return to competition with the reigning champions of the German league. He will replace Czech player Štěpán “Ambi” Beránek, who recently parted ways with the club.
tomaszy has been competing at the top of European VALORANT since early 2024, having achieved a victorious run with Karmine Corp during the EMEA Kickoff 2024. After a more difficult follow-up to the season, he was transferred to GIANTX, a project mainly centered around young talent. Initially more comfortable on Duelists upon entering the league, he eventually transitioned to other roles, notably Controllers.
From Regional Success to EMEA Roadblocks: CGN Rebuilds With Familiar Face
As for CGN, the season has been going fairly well, with the club reaching the finals of the DACH Challengers in both of the first two splits of 2025, thus qualifying twice for the EMEA Challengers. In those two decisive matches, CGN lost the first to FOKUS before taking revenge the next time. However, in the inter-league tournament, the German club failed to make it past the group stages on both occasions, with one win and one loss each time.
These results likely pushed the organization to make changes, leading to Ambi’s departure and the recruitment of tomaszy. With this signing, CGN also reunites David "DaviH" Cruz and tomaszy, a year and a half after their split. The duo had nearly written a great story in 2023, reaching the EMEA Ascension playoffs with SAW before falling to Gentle Mates, who would go on to claim the trophy and the VCT qualifying spot.
