A veteran player joins the PCIFIC project
According to sources close to Sheep Esports, Mateja "qpert" Mijović has reached a verbal agreement with PCIFIC Esports for the upcoming 2026 VALORANT season. The Serbian player has built a career that straddles both staff roles and official competition. After a stint with The Guard as assistant coach during the 2022 NA Last Chance Qualifier, then as an analyst for Team Liquid, he was integrated as the sixth man for Cloud9 at the launch of VCT Americas, featuring on the roster for LOCK//IN São Paulo and the 2023 VCT season.
Following his departure from Cloud9 in 2023, qpert continued his career as a player in EMEA, moving through several regional projects before joining Digital Athletics and then SK Gaming in 2024, with multiple appearances across various Challengers circuits. At the start of 2025, he took another step by joining Team Liquid Academy as In-Game Leader, notably competing in Challengers 2025: NORTH//EAST and Challengers 2025: EMEA Stage 1 and Stage 3 under their banner.
From the BBL PCIFIC breakthrough to a complete roster rebuild
For PCIFIC, the 2025 season was defined by rapid ascent through its partnership with BBL Esports. Under the BBL PCIFIC tag, the affiliated Turkish structure established itself as one of the most dominant forces in European Tier 2: a victory in Challengers EMEA 2025 Stage 1, a finals appearance and second place in Stage 2, and ultimately a promotion to the VCT EMEA via the 2025 Ascension tournament. Following this success, BBL Esports chose to part ways with its previous 2025 roster and instead sign the entire BBL PCIFIC lineup. This leaves the organization with a new challenge: assembling a team capable of competing with established EMEA Tier 1 teams.
In this context, PCIFIC’s rebuild is taking shape around a core already tested at the upper end of Tier 2. With the arrival of Patryk "NINJA" Koczyba, recently reported by Sheep Esports, and that of qpert, PCIFIC would be betting on an existing synergy between a duo coming directly from Team Liquid Academy. They have already played together in a structured, competitive and closely monitored environment.
In that light, a move to PCIFIC for 2026 would represent a logical continuation: that of a player already accustomed to franchised structures and tightly managed projects. After his experience in the Americas, qpert would thus turn his focus to VCT EMEA with a new challenge and a new project, bringing PCIFIC a profile that is both cerebral and experienced, already familiar with international standards.
