New coaching staff for Nova Esports
According to sources close to Sheep Esports, Won "pr" Jun-yeon and Kim "OnbusH" Taek-soo are set to join Nova Esports in VCT China as Head Coach and Coach, respectively. After leading the staff of FearX in 2025, the accomplished Korean coaching duo won almost everything, falling just one series short of qualifying for Ascension Pacific after a remarkable run that ended with a grand final loss to SLT Seongnam.
Previously Head Coach of Nongshim RedForce before the team’s administrative promotion to VCT, pr made the move to FEARX at the start of the year in pursuit of reaching the top tier of VALORANT esports. From early 2025, FEARX demonstrated dominance with an impressive lower bracket run in Stage 1 playoffs, ultimately sweeping Dplus in the finals with a 3-0 scoreline. The team repeated this success in Stage 2, decisively defeating SLT in the final, again with a 3-0 result.
A dominance that wasn't enough
Stage 3 proved more challenging for FEARX, who placed third behind SLT and title winners T1 Academy. Accumulating points throughout the year, the South Korean organization logically secured a spot in the Road to Ascension tournament. There, pr and OnbusH came close to earning an Ascension berth, narrowly missing out after a 3-1 defeat to SLT.
Now, the duo joins Nova Esports ahead of the VCT CN 2026 season, aiming to move the team out of mid-table in the Chinese league. After a Top 7-8 finish in Kickoff 2025, Nova pulled off a major upset by winning the VALORANT China Evolution Series Act 1. They then repeated a Top 7-8 placement in Stage 1 and dropped to Top 9-10 in Stage 2. The coaching staff is expected to be rounded out by Han "fore" Qibing, who has served as assistant coach since early 2024 and remains active with the club.
