Munchkin is back home
According to sources close to Sheep Esports, Byeon "Munchkin" Sang-beom has reached a verbal agreement with T1 to join their VALORANT roster for the 2026 VCT Pacific season. .The Korean player has been competing at the highest level of VALORANT since 2020, following several years in the Overwatch League with Seoul Dynasty, and has represented line-ups such as Cloud9 Korea, T1, and most recently Gen.G. Over the last two seasons, he has led Gen.G through one of the most successful periods in the organisation’s VALORANT history, marked by an international trophy at Masters Shanghai 2024 and a deep run to the grand final of Masters Madrid earlier that year.
Gen.G’s 2024-2025 core around Munchkin consistently reached the closing stages of international events, with podium finishes at multiple VCT stops and a sustained presence in the Pacific title race, before the organisation released most of its roster at the end of the 2025 season and allowed the players to explore their options. During that span, Munchkin alternated between Initiator and flex roles while calling, leading Gen.G to a Masters title and establishing himself as one of the most experienced shot-callers available on the market heading into the 2026 off-season.
A year full of surprises for T1
The organisation opened the season with a second-place finish at VCT Pacific Kickoff and secured its first international VALORANT title at Masters Bangkok 2025, winning a best-of-five against G2 Esports, before closing the year at Champions Paris under head coach Yoon "Autumn" Eu-teum. Shortly after Champions, T1 parted ways with Autumn and later promoted academy coach Kim "KDG" Dong-gun to lead the main roster, signalling the start of a new chapter for the project ahead of VCT 2026.
According to our sources, Munchkin will replace Kang "DH" Dong-ho, who returned to T1 Academy after joining the team mid-year, just before the start of the Esports World Cup Pacific Qualifiers. Adding him would provide an experienced voice with recent international trophies and multiple deep runs at VCT events, while allowing the existing core to retain its current firepower distribution. Internally, the move would also reunite T1 with a player who has already competed under their banner in VCT Pacific, this time bringing back a version of Munchkin shaped by two full seasons of leading Gen.G at the top of the global VALORANT circuit.
