According to sources close to Sheep Esports, Casper “Desmo” Rasmussen has reached a verbal agreement with Fnatic to become the team’s assistant coach for the 2026 VALORANT VCT EMEA season. The Danish coach most recently worked with Leviatán, initially as assistant. LEV formally promoted Desmo to head coach in July to replace Dimitar “itopata” Staev for VCT Americas Stage 2, giving him the task of stabilizing a roster that had underperformed in the first half of the year.
He coached a lineup built around Francisco “kiNgg” Aravena and Anthony “okeanos” Nguyen and guided them through the Americas split with the immediate objective of staying in contention for Champions Paris. After the team failed to qualify for the VALORANT World Championship, Leviatán allowed several key pieces, including Corbin "C0M" Lee, Okeanos, and Desmo himself, to explore options, effectively marking the end of that iteration of the project.
The last piece of the project
Fnatic, meanwhile, are coming off a 2025 season in which they won VCT EMEA Stage 1 and reached three consecutive international finals with Masters Toronto, the Esports World Cup, and Champions Paris. Their 2026 staff structure is being built around Milan “Milan” de Meij, whose contract is set to be extended by two years, as previously reported by Sheep Esports, and around the core the club has already re-signed, including Jake “Boaster” Howlett and Austin “crashies” Roberts. Bringing Desmo in as assistant is therefore intended to strengthen an already functioning staff unit rather than to overhaul it.
Placing Desmo in an assistant role at Fnatic aligns with the profile he demonstrated in 2025: he has recent tier-one experience, he has already stepped into a team mid-season to replace a departing head coach, and he has managed a multilingual roster across two regions. With his experience as a Tier 2 player from 2020 to 2023, including several appearances in the VCL Polaris, combined with his experience as an assistant coach and coach, Desmo is a well-rounded and very interesting prospect for a team that has the ambition and skill level to become world champions.
