Spookz will continue working with another former 100 Thieves member as he will reunite with Quid in Team Liquid
Team Liquid continue to shape their roster ahead of the 2026 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) season. After securing one of the most sought-after mid laners across multiple regions, Lim "Quid" Hyeon-seung, as previously reported by Sheep Esports, the multiple-time LCS and LTA champions are now turning their attention to their coaching staff.
During Worlds, Quid told Sheep Esports: “If I stay in North America, I would like to work with Spookz, my assistant coach. He’s really good at keeping a positive atmosphere and making sure we cheer each other up.” That wish has now become a reality, as the two will reunite on the same team.
Earlier this offseason, we reported the departure of Simon "Swiffer" Papamarkos, who left his role as Assistant Coach to join Dignitas as their new Head Coach. Team Liquid have now found his replacement. According to sources close to Sheep Esports, Samuel “Spookz” Broadley is set to join Team Liquid as Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2026 season.
From a Guardian to a Thief — and Now Taking the Reins
After a playing career as a jungler in Oceania, where he represented teams such as Chiefs Esports Club and ORDER, Spookz transitioned into coaching immediately upon retiring from professional play. His coaching journey began in 2019 with Golden Guardians, where he remained until 2023.
During his tenure with Golden Guardians, the team achieved its best-ever domestic finish, a 2nd place in the 2023 LCS Spring Split, earning a spot at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) that same year. However, later, their Worlds hopes were dashed after falling 0–3 to Team BDS in the qualification series for Worlds 2023.
Spookz eventually made it to the League of Legends World Championship as part of 100 Thieves’ coaching staff, attending the event two years in a row — 2024 and 2025. This year, the Thieves were eliminated in the Swiss Stage after a 0–2 loss to reigning world champions and current finalists, T1.
Now, by joining Team Liquid, the Split 1 champions of the LTA 2025, Spookz will continue working alongside his mid laner Quid, ensuring a degree of continuity and synergy between the two. The European-rooted organization also continues to rely on one of its cornerstone players, 2017 World Champion Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in, who is set to begin his eighth year with the team. It is yet to be confirmed who will be the missing members of the team so far but Liquid confirmed in September that Jeong "Impact" Eon-young, another former world champion, would not be returning for 2026.
Team Liquid 2026 roster so far:
- Mid: Lim "Quid" Hyeon-seung
- Support: Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in
- Assistant Coach: Samuel “Spookz” Broadley
