Dignitas turns to Photon, their fourth Toplaner in two years
Kyeong "Photon" Gyu-tae is back in Tier 1. The South-Korean toplaner has reached a verbal agreement with Dignitas in the LTA North, sources tell Sheep Esports on Sunday. After his stint in the Turkish Championship League (TCL) with Beşiktaş Esports, he is now set to play in the LTA North.
At 23 years old, Photon will be tasked with reigniting Dignitas' objective in the race for the 2025 World Championship, which will be decided during Split 3. The team, whose best placement in the league has been in fourth place since their creation back in 2011, is coming off two more mid-table results this year: 5th-6th place in both Split 1 and Split 2.
Srtty out of the team
Before Photon’s agreement, Dignitas had already informed Srtty that he would not be continuing with the team for Split 3. Despite asking people familiar with the situation, Sheep Esports could not confirm the reason for this change.
Since this decision, Srtty and his agent have been actively exploring new opportunities. Although every LTA North organization currently has a toplaner in place, multiple sources suggest that further changes in the toplane position may still occur across the league. If those shifts happen, there remains a possibility for Srtty to join a new team.
After a standout run in Tier 2, which included winning the NACL title with FlyQuest NZXT in Spring 2024, Srtty made his LTA debut with Dignitas in 2025. Since his arrival, however, the team has not advanced beyond a fifth–sixth place finish in either split.
A comeback in Tier-1
Photon began his professional career in South Korea with T1’s academy team. He quickly rose to prominence after winning the LCK Challengers League in Summer 2022 and earning the MVP title. His strong mechanics and calm playstyle caught the attention of European scouts, leading to his move to Team Vitality in the LEC for the 2023 season. There, he made an immediate impact, securing an All-Pro top laner spot in the Winter Split and helping the team to a third-place finish in Spring.
In 2024, after a mixed year with Vitality, Photon transitioned to the Turkish Championship League, joining Beşiktaş Esports for the 2025 season. Known for his consistency, clean laning phase, and teamfight reliability, Photon gets a new chance to prove himself at the highest level possible. He joins LTA for the first time in his career.
