Mikyx will begin his tenth consecutive year in Europe’s tier 1 alongside SK Gaming
Mihael "Mikyx" Mehle is set to join SK Gaming in the League of Legends EMEA Championship. The 26-year-old Slovenian support will therefore begin his tenth year as a professional player with the German organization, which recently relocated its headquarters to Cologne, as previously reported by Sheep Esports. While his move to SK gaming might come to a surprise, details shared by sources with Sheep Esports try to explain the move in this report.
Mikyx spent a full 2025 year with Fnatic, during which he secured two podium finishes, a top-four placement, and a Worlds appearance in China, before his departure was announced this Friday by the organization.
Do you like this roster change?
SK Gaming will make Mikyx the centerpiece of its competitive project for the upcoming season. After a difficult year, the team has already started rebuilding. The coaching staff is already locked, with David "OWN3R" Rodriguez de la Torre continuing in his role as head coach, joined by Simon "Baguette" Cordonnier as his assistant. French jungler Duncan "Skeanz" Marquet is also set to continue with SK.
Why is Mikyx joining SK?
Mikyx was still under contract with Fnatic until the end of 2026, but they will not need to pay a buyout to the British organization to acquire the support player, who was their top priority. In case they failed to secure Mikyx, SK’s second option was GIANTX Pride’s support, South Korean player Park "Lospa" Joon-hyeong.
The German team was considering two different projects: one centered around developing rookies, and the other built around Mikyx. SK was indeed also Mikyx’s number one priority during this offseason, so that he could have his own roster project. Mikyx believes the roster he is helping to build at SK Gaming has very high potential. The support, therefore, did not entertain other offers and quickly joined SK Gaming after Worlds. Despite many LEC teams currently on the support market, Mikyx did not consider talking with other teams much, as they could not fulfill his roster wishes.
Founded in 2010, the team has endured through the years and across multiple eras of European League of Legends but has never truly reached the top, making it to a regional final only once in its history — during the 2014 EU LCS Spring Split. More recently, in 2025, they finished bottom tier of the LEC three times. The arrival of such a highly regarded and emblematic support player could mark the beginning of a new era for the organization, one that now aligns its resources with its ambitions.
A fifth team in his career
Mikyx will therefore be joining the fifth team of his long career. In 2016, he began with Splyce, with whom he participated in the Worlds during his very first year as a pro. He then joined Misfits Gaming, where he first formed a botlane with Steven "Hans Sama" Liv, though it wasn’t a fully satisfying partnership.
In 2019, he joined G2 Esports, forming arguably the strongest and most competitive roster Europe has ever fielded: LEC champions in both Spring and Summer, the only non-Korean or non-Chinese team to win the Mid-Season Invitational, and a legendary Worlds run where they eliminated DWG Gaming in the quarterfinals and SKT T1 in the semifinals before falling to FunPlus Phoenix in the grand final.
The following year, the team again won both splits and reached the Worlds semifinals, before having a less successful 2021, coinciding with the arrival of Martin "Rekkles" Larsson. Mikyx then joined Excel Esports for a brief year before returning to G2 alongside Hans Sama this time, winning seven out of eight possible LEC titles in two years, though failing to make it out of the Swiss stage at Worlds in both editions.
At the start of the year, he joined Fnatic on a contract running until 2026 to partner with Elias "Upset" Lipp in the botlane. While the year wasn’t great for the club overall, the botlane was clearly the roster’s strongest point. Mikyx delivered a very solid year overall and remains one of the best, if not the best, support in the league.
