Mihile played for MISA Esports this year
Toplaner Baek "Mihile" Sang-hwi is set to join Los Heretics in the Superliga next season, sources tell Sheep Esports on Friday. The Korean toplaner, who arrived last year from Nongshim RedForce, will experience his second European team after competing with Misa Esports this past season.
Fresh off an EMEA Masters finals appearance—where the team suffered a decisive 3–0 defeat at the hands of Karmine Corp Blue—Los Heretics is expected to field a roster markedly different from last year’s lineup. With toplaner Sebastian "Tracyn" Wojtoń recently promoted to the LEC, he will be replaced within the academy roster by a player who delivered strong performances in the ERLs last season.
A long offseason
Mihile’s offseason was unusually long, largely due to his strong chances of moving into Tier 1. Several teams — including Team Heretics, Fnatic, and Disguised — showed interest, but each ultimately secured their primary targets, leaving Mihile without a Tier 1 landing spot. He even explored opportunities in CBLoL, yet with limited import slots available, the dominoes didn’t fall in his favor.
Returning to his former team, Misa Esports, was also off the table after their exceptional acquisitions of bot laners Byeon “Hype” Jeong-hyeon and Han “Way” Gil. With Tier 1 options exhausted, Mihile ultimately chose to join Los Heretics, where he may still compete for the starting LEC position.
A dominant ERL toplaner
At one point considered for a potential move to the LEC this upcoming split, notably by Fnatic, Mihile will ultimately remain in the ERL ecosystem, where he may continue establishing himself as one of the region’s leading players. Arriving last year from Nongshim RedForce alongside his teammate Oh "callme" Ji-hoon, Mihile quickly made a name for himself in the TCL as one of the league’s standout performers. Although his early performances were relatively understated, he steadily gained momentum throughout the year.
Misa Esports won the Summer Split with impressive showings, and Mihile was named MVP of the finals against Bushido Wildcats, notably showcasing an unconventional Twisted Fate pick in Game 5. He competed in both editions of the EMEA Masters—Spring and Summer—but his team was eliminated in the quarterfinals on both occasions. With Misa Esports already announcing the departure of all five players and its roster nearly rebuilt, the chapter between Mihile and the Turkish organization has come to a close.
He has now left the team to join Los Heretics. The Spanish academy roster, currently competing in the Iberian Cup, came close to qualifying for the LEC for the next split but will ultimately remain in the Superliga with an entirely renewed lineup. The team won the Winter Split earlier this year and reached the finals of both the Summer Split and the EMEA Masters Summer—falling short on both fronts. Los Heretics will aim to maintain the same level of performance next season and assert themselves within the EMEA region.
