Leaked details point to an ambitious worldwide circuit set to position Marvel Rivals as esports’ next ecosystem
Launched in December 2024, Marvel Rivals is a 6-player hero shooter featuring iconic Marvel characters. Earlier this year, the game surpassed 40 million players — and NetEase Games, the publisher, didn’t want to stop there, pushing forward with plans to develop a full esports scene.
While professional play is still emerging, it has already attracted major organizations such as Fnatic, 100 Thieves, and FlyQuest. The title also debuted the Marvel Rivals IGNITE Mid-Season Finals, the first-ever global LAN tournament for the game, bringing together top talent from five major regions.
Marvel Rivals Esports - A real professional circuit
Sources have shared with Sheep Esports what the competitive landscape will look like in 2026, as Marvel Rivals prepares to launch its own professional circuit. According to our information, each major region — America, EMEA, Asia, Oceania, and China — will have its own league.
Marvel Rivals Esports will feature a preseason, two regular-season stages, and two global offline events, allowing the best teams from each region to face one another. The structure closely resembles other established esports ecosystems — such as League of Legends, which historically operated across five major regions with two splits and two international events: the Mid-Season Invitational and the renowned World Championship. (Although LoL Esports expanded to a three-split system with an additional international event, The First Stand, starting in 2025.)
According to our sources, Marvel Rivals Esports is planning to allocate at least a $3-4 million USD prize pool to its 2026 circuit, making it an appealing proposition for professional organizations. Additionally, NetEase intends to collaborate closely with leading teams through the launch of In-game esports skins programs, with a portion of revenue distributed directly to partner teams and the wider ecosystem.
Overall, Marvel Rivals appears to be taking an ambitious step into competitive gaming, building a global professional circuit and laying the foundations for sustainability at a time when the esports industry has faced significant economic challenges over the past three years.
