IgNar returns to the LCS, rejoining Dignitas — the team he played for back in 2022
Dignitas brings back a player from the dead. After a year away from professional play, Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun is set to return to a tier-one league, rejoining Dignitas for their 2026 LCS roster, according to sources close to Sheep Esports. He’s among the first players locked in by the organization and its new head coach, Simon “Swiffer” Papamarkos, as previously reported.
At 29 years old, IgNar perfectly fits the player profile Dignitas has consistently pursued in recent years — an experienced veteran who has traveled across the world’s top leagues during his ten-year career. From KT Rolster to Misfits Gaming in Europe, then Schalke 04 and FlyQuest, IgNar has worn many jerseys. Since arriving in the LCS in 2020, he has represented several teams including Evil Geniuses, Immortals, NRG, and even Dignitas, who he briefly played for in 2023.
His most recent experience came in the EMEA region on GIANTX’s botlane in 2024, alongside Patrik “Patrik” Jírů. After a deal with DRX one year ago that he ultimately walked back from, IgnaR did not compete professionally this year for undisclosed reasons.
A reunion in Dignitas
Dignitas have been off competition for over three months now, with their season ending on August 23 and their third split concluding with a last-place finish in LTA North. They even loaned their midlaner Kim "Keine" Joon-cheol to Isurus in LTA South so he could play in the Promotion Tournament held in September, which they went on to win.
Alongside Swiffer’s hiring, Dignitas recently brought in Jonathon “Jonathon” McDaniel as their new General Manager. Jonathon replaced longtime GM James “Bakery” Baker, who stepped down from the GM role but remains vice president of the organization. Jonathon is well-known in the NA scene for his history with Cloud9 Academy, Golden Guardians, Counter Logic Gaming, and NRG. He is credited with strong underdog roster-building and led CLG to success with key talents before achieving a championship with NRG, including a memorable sweep of G2 Esports at Worlds 2023. That achievement came with IgnaR as his support, and the two will now reunite in a new home.
