G2 will also keep the same coaching staff
It’s an example of continuity and consistency. G2 Esports is set to retain their entire roster for the 2026 season, sources tell Sheep Esports on Tuesday. Additionally, with the recent contract extension of Jonas "Memento" Elmarghichi, as reported by Sheep Esports, the coaching staff, extended right before Worlds, will also remain unchanged.
After a year that started slowly for G2 but ended on a strong note, they will enter 2026 with the exact same foundation as in 2025. During Winter and Spring, G2 fell twice in the finals, first to Karmine Corp and then to Movistar KOI, raising doubts about whether the offseason roster changes were effective.
It was only after their participation in the Mid-Season Invitational and the Esports World Cup that the team’s full potential emerged, as they went on to win Summer and qualify for Worlds as the number one seed. They ultimately lost in the quarterfinals to Top Esports, but the run showed that they had overcome the demons of previous Worlds, where they had been eliminated in the Swiss Stage.
The Same Ten
The same five players, along with the same five coaching staff and manager, will be retained by the organization. Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik had his ups and downs throughout the year but will remain in the toplane. Rudy "SkewMond" Semaan had an impressive rookie year and will obviously be kept.
Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard Winther is Caps. Steven "Hans Sama" Liv had a solid year despite the support change, a position where Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis struggled a bit at the start but ultimately ended the year on a strong note.
The same applies to the coaching staff. Dylan Falco and Rodrigo Domingues Oliveira will begin their fifth year with G2, joined by Memento, who was extended a bit later than the rest. Ismael "Isma" Pedraza is also retained for his fourth consecutive year as Performance Coach, and finally, Romain Bigeard remains as General Manager, a role he has held for four years.
Keeping the same people over time is very uncommon in the world of League of Legends esports, something G2 has managed to do quite well. Caps has been the face of the team since his arrival in 2019, Dylan has the organization’s trust at the helm of the team for a long time, and retaining the same five players is something only Movistar KOI and GIANTX are doing this year.
