Bwipo spent the past two years with FlyQuest, reaching a World Championship quarterfinal
Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau will not be FlyQuest’s starting toplaner in 2026, sources tell Sheep Esports on Tuesday. The Belgian toplaner is exploring his options in both Europe and North America, in toplane as well as in jungle—a role he previously played in 2021 with Fnatic.
As a reminder, Bwipo's contract with FlyQuest is running out this year in November, but FlyQuest will not renew him for next year as a starting toplaner. Bwipo and his team, after dominating the LTA North, just concluded a rather disappointing 2025 World Championship campaign, exiting the Swiss Stage after a decisive series loss to G2 Esports.
In search of a new challenge
Bwipo joined the League of Legends Tier 1 scene in Spring 2018 with Fnatic in the EU LCS, sharing the toplane with Paul "sOAZ" Boyer. He spent four years with Fnatic, during which he won two splits and reached the semifinals of the 2018 Mid-Season Invitational. The peak of his career was undoubtedly the World Championship final in his first year in the European Tier 1, where Fnatic was clean swept by Invictus Gaming.
In 2021, with Adam "Adam" Maanane joining Fnatic in the toplane, Bwipo role-swapped to jungle during the Summer Split and the World Championship. He then moved to North America, joining Team Liquid before taking a break and returning to the scene in early 2024 with FlyQuest.
There, he won the Summer Split, became a Worlds dark horse with a memorable 2-3 quarterfinal loss to Gen.G, and enjoyed a dominant year in LTA North 2025, where the team secured two splits. The end of the split was marred by controversy over misogynistic remarks made by Bwipo on stream, though it remains unclear whether this has influenced FlyQuest’s decision.
