The LVP is restructuring its workforce, affecting League of Legends and VALORANT operations.
According to sources close to Sheep Esports, 59 employees of the Liga de Videojuegos Profesional (LVP) will be temporarily removed as part of an "Expediente de Regulación de Empleo" (ERE), which could take effect as early as November. The measure concerns the League of Legends and VALORANT leagues, which LVP organises, but does not threaten the continuity of the national leagues.
In Spain, an ERE is a legally regulated procedure that allows a company to adjust its workforce for economic, technical, organizational, or production-related reasons. It may involve collective termination of contracts, temporary suspension of employment, or a reduction in working hours. In the case of LVP, the exact type of ERE, the final decisions will, per sources, depend on the financial performance of the organization in 2026.
A meeting on Monday
For context, Mediapro, a major Spanish audiovisual production company and holder of numerous sports broadcasting rights, acquired Fandroid Entertainment, LVP’s parent company, for approximately 22 million euros. Since the acquisition, the company has struggled to recoup this investment. Over the past three years, central management has implemented strict budgetary adjustments, limiting expenditures to generated revenues and suspending further investment.
Next week, following the conclusion of the relegations and once the teams qualified for the 2026 Superliga are confirmed, a meeting is scheduled with all participating clubs to clarify the situation. On Monday, September 15, management will address the teams directly to explain the developments, providing additional clarity. According to sources, this initiative primarily constitutes an internal reorganization aimed at optimizing operations, while maintaining the continuity of Spain’s esports competitions.
