"Shepherd" will provide instant access to match data, player statistics, and tournament insights across League of Legends, VALORANT, and other competitive games
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM – 17 June 2025 – Sheep Esports, a fast-growing digital media outlet dedicated to in-depth coverage of the global esports scene, is proud to announce its partnership with Theta Network, the leading decentralized cloud infrastructure provider for AI, media, and entertainment.
Together, the two organizations will launch a cutting-edge AI-powered assistant designed specifically for esports fans, bringing fans and analysts closer than ever to the action. The assistant, codenamed “Shepherd”, will live on the Sheep Esports website and Discord server, acting as an intelligent guide through match results, team histories, tournament formats, and breaking news across League of Legends, VALORANT, and beyond.
Built on Theta EdgeCloud, a decentralized GPU compute network with more than 30,000 global nodes, Shepherd will leverage advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to deliver instant answers, real-time match data, and historical context drawn from Sheep Esports’ own archives as well as official sources such as Riot Games APIs.
“Sheep Esports was founded with the goal of exploring new ways to inform esports fans. With Theta Network, we're developing a tool that delivers instant information about any esports team, player, or tournament. We're excited to make the connection between fans and media more interactive,” said Ronan Bras, Managing Director of Sheep Esports.
From fans asking “When is the next LEC match?” to deep dives into meta shifts or team winrates, Shepherd will provide high-quality answers instantly, all while learning from ongoing updates across the esports ecosystem. The project also opens the door to personalized content, allowing fans to subscribe to AI-generated newsletters tailored to their favorite teams, games, or leagues.
"Good esports news shouldn't just tell you what happened - it should help you understand why it matters. When a fan wants to know if a team's draft strategy actually works, or how a player's performance compares historically, they shouldn't have to dig through spreadsheets. Sheep Esports & Theta are building something that puts those insights right at readers' fingertips." - Mitch Liu, CEO of Theta Labs.
The Shepherd assistant is expected to enter public beta in Q3 2025, with features progressively rolled out to Sheep Esports members and Discord followers.
This collaboration marks an important step forward in media-tech innovation within the esports space, blending engaging esports news with the latest in AI and blockchain infrastructure. Fans can expect to experience esports coverage like never before: smarter, faster, and more interactive.
