Just a few days after unveiling Senna's gameplay and official release date, Riot Games revealed on Thursday the teaser of Thresh, the upcoming fifteenth champion for 2XKO, its new fighting game. The two champions are expected to launch together on June 9 and are closely linked in theLeague of Legends lore.
Senna was a Sentinel of Light and Lucian’s wife. During a mission against the creatures of the Black Mist, she sacrificed herself to save him from an attack by Thresh. The Chain Warden then captured her soul and trapped it inside his lantern, where he keeps the souls of his victims imprisoned. After years of hunting Thresh, Lucian finally succeeded in freeing Senna from the lantern. Rather than passing into the afterlife, she returned with spectral powers and the ability to manipulate the Black Mist herself.
That makes four champions added in 2026 in less than six months, despite Riot Games announcing back in January that only five champions would be added to the game this year. Following Caitlyn at the start of the season and Akali in April, two more characters are now joining the fighting game's roster. Already teased in Senna's gameplay trailer, Thresh only had to wait a few extra days before being fully unveiled, featuring a slightly reworked design and a gameplay style centered around his scythe.
Tresh has bulked up for 2XKO
His scythe, which he uses to catch opponents on Summoner's Rift, remains his primary weapon in 2XKO. As such, he can grab opponents from a distance while also using it for direct attacks, making him a versatile character capable of thriving in multiple situations. According to the character profile shared by the official X account, he falls into the Technical category.
Naturally, his lantern is also part of his arsenal. It appears he can teleport to it and summon souls from within it to damage opponents. The Box, his ultimate ability inLeague of Legends, is also included in his kit, although it is not his special move in 2XKO. Unsurprisingly, and in line with the character's lore, his ultimate move is tied to his lantern, which he uses to "trap" his opponent inside.
In addition to the arrival of these two champions, Riot Games also teased a new fighting stage through Thresh's reveal trailer, which will likely be set in the Shadow Isles. During Senna's gameplay showcase, the North American publisher had already featured a new stage in the background, likely connected to the Sentinels of Light, the faction to which she belongs.
