Riot Games has announced the temporary disabling of
Neon on PC after the discovery of a graphics exploit linked to her Fast Lane ability that could become invisible. According to Riot Games, the bug directly affects the gameās competitive integrity, prompting the developers to remove the agent until Patch 12.09, which will be up on May 13th and is expected to address the issue.
Beyond the bug itself, Neon has been at the center of community criticism for several months. The agent is often considered overtuned, particularly because of her ability to move at high speed while remaining difficult to punish. Her slide allows her to take explosive duels, and the fact that she can maintain a high degree of shooting accuracy during these movement windows makes her entries especially difficult to deal with. For many players, Neon introduces a pace that disrupts VALORANTās usual fundamentals, where positioning, crosshair placement, and the ability to track an opponent are meant to be central.
Her ultimate has also been one of the most frequently criticized parts of her kit. Capable of eliminating opponents within seconds while benefiting from rapid and unpredictable movement, it can be extremely difficult to counter, especially in ranked games where coordination is often limited. The community has been calling for a Neon nerf for a long time, arguing that the agent sometimes rewards speed and aggression too heavily compared with the gameās traditional emphasis on precision.
This situation also fits into a broader direction from Riot. Recently,
Yoru was nerfed so heavily that he went from being the most-played agent during VCT Kickoff to almost disappearing before the start of Stage 1 2026. Riot therefore appears to be moving toward faster corrections for agents that become too dominant in the meta, to make
VALORANT more balanced in both ranked play and professional competition. For Neon, her return in Patch 12.09 may therefore represent not only the end of the exploit, but also the beginning of a more controlled version of the agent.
