Spiritforged set to release on December 12 in China
As the English version of Origins, Riftbound’s first set, has just launched, Riot Games is ramping up promotion for its next collection, Spiritforged. Scheduled for release on December 12 in China, this second set from the League of Legends Runeterra trading card game is expected to arrive worldwide around February 2026.
Starting from November 21, fans of the new card game can look forward to a wave of teasers across social media, with previews appearing both on the game’s official channels and through coverage from dedicated esports media outlets.
40 new overnumbered cards
With this new set, Riot Games is set to unveil around 221 brand-new cards, following the 298 included in Origins. Spiritforged will introduce more overnumbered cards than the first set, with roughly 40 cards. These overnumbered cards mark a shift—not limited to League of Legends champions, they’ll now include powerful gears and items as well.
Spiritforged’s launch will feature dedicated Pre-Rift tournaments in China, where players will receive sealed kits containing an exclusive legend card and champion unit. Promo cards, including alt art runes and a special foil Garen, will also be distributed during Nexus Nights and spring competitions as part of the set’s competitive rollout.
As highlighted in a recent announcement, the North American publisher plans to release eight new sets over the next two years (2026 and 2027), with Spiritforged leading the way this coming February. With new sets slated to arrive every three months, the gap between the Chinese and English launches should continue to close, moving toward fully synchronized global releases in the near future.
Including over 200 brand-new cards, Spiritforged aims to expand the game’s lore and spotlight new champions from the League of Legends universe. Alongside this major set release, Riot Games has also confirmed—via its official press release—that two new Champion Decks will launch simultaneously, with more content still to be revealed.
