Riot Games confirms worldwide presence
Riot Games has unveiled details about its presence at events during the first year of Riftbound, its upcoming Trading Card Game set to launch on August 1st in China, with an international release scheduled for October 2025. In an article published on July 19th, the development team outlined the major events they plan to attend.

Already showcased at MSI Vancouver, Riftbound will continue to feature at Riot Games’ international events, including League of Legends Worlds in China and the Teamfight Tactics Paris Open this December. However, the publisher also aims to attract TCG fans beyond the LoL universe and has announced its participation in conventions dedicated to the trading card game scene. In addition to GenCon, PAX Unplugged (November 21–23) is on the calendar, along with at least two other events whose names remain confidential for now.
A promotional card to collect
At GenCon, which will take place from Thursday, July 31st to Sunday, August 3rd in Indianapolis, Riftbound will share a booth with UVS Games, its partner for the English version. They’ll offer both 1v1 demos and 4-player free-for-all matches—one of the unique formats of this upcoming TCG inspired by the LoL universe. Participants will also receive an exclusive promotional card, the first English-language promo card for the game, which will be distributed at all non-Chinese events throughout 2025. Riot has clarified that promotional cards will not have unique mechanical effects, in order to avoid disrupting the future meta.

The development team is also relying on third-party partners to expand the game's presence globally, acknowledging that they can't be everywhere during these early months but aiming to establish visibility outside North America as well. Additional event announcements are expected in the coming weeks, coinciding with communications about how to acquire the English-language cards.
Riot Games appears fully committed to the launch of this new project and is expected to continue supporting Riftbound with plenty of surrounding content. There’s little doubt that the success of Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic, and One Piece convinced the North American publisher to step into the space. According to estimates, the TCG market was worth over $13 billion in 2023, with forecasts surpassing $20 billion by 2027.
