Bilibili Gaming enter with a six-man roster featuring two junglers
The League of Legends 2025 World Championship kicks off in Beijing on the 14th of October. A total of 17 teams will compete to, again, succeed T1 at the top of the Riot Games MOBA world hierarchy. On this occasion, Sheep Esports brings you a daily feature on one of the teams taking part. On October 11th, the fifteenth episode of our series focuses on Bilibili Gaming.
Bilibili Gaming enter Worlds as the LPL’s first seed — the only Chinese team fielding a fully domestic roster, and the only one bringing a six-man lineup. The organization remains true to its ambition of greatness and its desire to represent the Middle Kingdom at the highest level of competition. They come in as one of the tournament’s main favorites after winning Split 3, showcasing their resilience by taking three of their four playoffs series with a narrow 3–2 scoreline.
3 splits, 3 junglers
Bilibili Gaming’s 2025 season was defined by a constant search for stability in the jungle. At the end of 2024, following Worlds, the team had two junglers — Yan "Wei" Yang-Wei and Peng "Xun" Li-Xun. They decided to start the 2025 season with Wei and part ways with Xun, who joined JD Gaming. BLG finished fourth in Split1, far from the top and the only qualifying spot for the First Stand. Xun began the Split 2 but was quickly replaced by Yang "Beichuan" Ling, who arrived from ThunderTalk Gaming.
With him, the team’s performance improved significantly. Wei later joined Invictus Gaming, and BLG ended the split in second place — enough to qualify for both the Mid-Season Invitational and the Esports World Cup. At the MSI play-ins, BLG clean-swept GAM Esports and G2 Esports to advance to the main stage, where Western teams posed little resistance. However, matchups against T1 and Anyone’s Legend proved fatal for the Chinese powerhouse.
At the Esports World Cup, things got even tougher as the team only played one best-of series — a loss to G2. Back in China for Split 3, BLG brought in Zhao "Shad0w" Zhi-Qiang from FunPlus Phoenix to form a six-man roster alongside Beichuan, a move that ultimately paid off. The team went on to dominate Split 3, cruising through playoffs without dropping a single series and taking down JDG, IG, and finally securing back-to-back wins over regular-season leaders Top Esports to claim the most important LPL title of the year.
Among the world’s best solo lanes
The jungle role at BLG has been somewhat shaky, and while the botlane has had its ups and downs, Zhao "Elk" Jia-Hao and Luo "ON" Wen-Jun remain one of the most reliable duos — and at their best, among the strongest botlanes in the world.
But the real stars of this BLG roster are undoubtedly Chen "Bin" Ze-Bin and Zhuo "Knight" Ding, the two main characters of the team’s story. Bin’s year has been uneven, but he bounced back strongly toward the end of the season — finishing with the highest KDA among all LPL toplaners in Summer, the fewest deaths, and the third-best gold difference at 15 minutes. Interestingly, Bin didn’t play Jax a single time this split, instead finding great success with Yorick, a pick that became something of a Chinese specialty.
Do you think Bilibili Gaming will win the 2025 Worlds?
In the midlane, Knight stood out as the top performer of the Ascend group, leading all LPL midlaners in team damage share — a clear sign of his importance to BLG. He claimed his sixth LPL title this year, making him the most decorated player in Chinese history. With 16 different champions played over the Summer Split, Knight is arguably in one of the best forms of his career and has carried BLG through numerous best-of series. Now, he’ll be aiming for the one title still missing from his legacy — his very first World Championship.
