The LPL’s first seed, Bilibili Gaming, is eliminated in the Swiss stage
The Swiss Stage of the 2025 Worlds in China concluded this Saturday, with the final three teams securing their quarterfinal spots while the remaining three are eliminated. The day opened with a dominant win from CTBC Flying Oyster over FlyQuest, followed by a three-game series taken by Top Esports against Bilibili Gaming, and finally a victory from T1 over Movistar KOI.
The eight quarterfinalists are now set. The strongest region in the world, the LCK, has sent all four of its seeds to the playoffs: KT Rolster at 3–0, Hanwha Life Esports and Gen.G also at 3–1, and T1 advancing at 3–2. The LPL follows with two representatives, Anyone’s Legend at 3–0 and Top Esports at 3–2. The LEC will be represented by G2 Esports at 3–1, while the LCP sends CTBC Flying Oyster at 3–2. The LTA is the only region without a team in the quarterfinals.
The Pacific reconnects with success
The day opened with CFO flying higher than FLY. Game 1 was extremely contested between the two teams and it took 45 minutes for them to finally close it out. As highlighted in our preview yesterday, the botlane matchup was going to be crucial, with the AD carry advantage clearly leaning toward Chiu "Doggo" Tzu-Chuan — and it showed. The Corki scaled perfectly, dealing over 56k damage to secure the first match point.
Game 2 followed the same pattern. Doggo locked in Draven, the teamfights were one-sided, and FlyQuest had no answers for his aggression. CFO did exactly what you’re supposed to do with a Draven draft: end fast. The game was wrapped up in 27 minutes.
Rise when it matters most
Top Esports were dominated by BLG in the two most important best-of series of the LPL Summer Split: first in the Upper Bracket Final, which BLG won 3–2, and then in the grand final, which they again took by the same score, forcing TES to go to the Regional Finals. Today, BLG started strong with Game 1, dominated largely through their carries. Zhuo "Knight" Ding and Zhao "Elk" Jia-Hao performed excellently on Ziggs and Yunara, wrapping up the game in just 22 minutes.
In Game 2, TES made a strong comeback. Azir was left open, and Seo "Kanavi" Jin-hyeok on Trundle landed perfect Pillars to equalize the series. For the third game, BLG decided to sub out their jungler Zhao "Shad0w" Zhi-Qiang for Yang "Beichuan" Ling. The game turned into a bloodbath with 47 kills in total, 25 of them for BLG.
Chen "Bin" Ze-Bin delivered a phenomenal Jax performance—his signature champion—but the rest of the map was dominated by TES. With a double AD composition—Smolder for Lin "Creme" Jian and Corki for Yu "JackeyLove" Wen-Bo—TES managed their scaling perfectly and secured the victory, earning their qualification and eliminating BLG.
T1 struggle but advance
Finally, in the last best-of of the day, T1 managed to overcome the Spanish team MKOI. In Game 1, MKOI left Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok on Azir, his best champion, while Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun delivered an outstanding performance on Qiyana, allowing the reigning double world champions to open the series.
Game 2 was much more contested between the two teams. David "Supa" Martínez García locked in his signature Vayne, performing well with a solo kill on Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong, and Alex "Myrwn" Pastor Villarejo also had a strong game on Ambessa. On the T1 side, Oner started with a double kill, the game snowballed effectively, and although the fights were intense, T1 ultimately secured the victory.
