Faker holds the record for the most games played in League of Legends
Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok is the player who has played the most games in competitive League of Legends history. Among all esports players, his name stands out as the one with the highest number of official games, spanning not just the LCK but also international tournaments such as MSI, Worlds, and other events like the Esports World Cup or the Asian Games (2018, 2022). On top of that, he has participated in multiple 1v1 tournaments and showmatches, from the 2017 All-Star event in Los Angeles to various unique exhibitions in South Korea.
Overall, Faker’s longevity, especially at the highest level, has allowed him to participate in all of the most prestigious tournaments throughout his many years of competitive career. This is further proof that while T1 is recognized as the most prestigious organization in the LoL ecosystem, much of its prestige comes from Faker’s immense influence and enduring presence on Summoner’s Rift.

The GOAT with most played games
Faker is widely regarded as the greatest League of Legends player of all time. His career began in 2013 with SK Telecom T1, and ever since, he has become synonymous with competitive excellence and consistency. Faker’s record book is seemingly endless, but among his most notable accomplishments are being both the player with the most professional games played and the one with the most World Championship titles. These feats underscore not only his unmatched skill but also his incredible longevity at the highest level of competition across more than a decade.
With such statistics, Faker currently has over 1,000 games played in the LCK alone, making him not only the most experienced player in league history but also the winningest one, having secured more than 700 victories as of Summer 2025. The number naturally continues to increase as Faker keeps playing, and this could continue for several more years since he has signed a contract with T1 that runs until 2029.
The numbers become even more impressive when examining Faker's performance at the World Championship. Faker holds the record for the most Worlds appearances, with the 2025 edition marking his tenth qualification. Beyond just making it to the tournament, his success rate is truly staggering. From his debut in 2013 to the 2024 edition, Faker has amassed 109 wins over 147 Worlds games, culminating in an outstanding win rate of 74.1%. Equally remarkable, across his nine Worlds appearances between these two dates, he has never finished lower than the semifinals.
Impressive win rates
Faker's dominance extends to the MSI as well. Across eight MSI tournaments between 2015 and 2025, he has played a record 148 games, winning 98 of them and holding an impressive win rate of 66.2%. These figures highlight that despite participating in fewer MSI events compared to Worlds, his total MSI games are almost the same as his Worlds games, underlining his extensive competitive experience at elite international events.
Crowning his illustrious career, Faker has had the distinguished honor of representing South Korea twice at the Asian Games, in 2018 and 2022. While he fell just short with a silver medal in 2018, losing to China in the finals, he remained undefeated during the 2022 edition. Overall, across these two Asian Games, Faker has secured 28 wins out of 36 games, boasting a spectacular win rate of 77.8%, further cementing his legacy as a dominant force in international League of Legends competition.
