Doran and Gumayusi’s contracts have expired, while Oner and Keria remain tied to the team until 2026, and Faker until 2029
T1 have done it again. The greatest team in history is the world champions for the third consecutive year. After advancing from the Swiss Stage with a 3-2 record, they went on to eliminate two LPL teams in the quarterfinals and semifinals, before an unpredictable best-of-five final where they defeated KT Rolster 3-2. Once again, T1 stand atop the League of Legends world.
And this achievement was made possible by players of remarkable experience despite their young age. Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun, Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong, and Ryu "Keria" Min-seok have each claimed their third star, while the eternal Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok remains steadfast in the midlane, securing his sixth at 29 years old. At the top, Choi "Doran" Hyeon-joon seems to be living a dream, having just captured his very first Worlds title.
These five players have just achieved the extraordinary feat of winning a third consecutive Worlds, and as the offseason unfolds, questions arise about the future of this roster. Doran and Gumayusi’s contracts are set to expire in a few days, while Oner and Keria are signed through 2026, and Faker recently extended his deal until 2029 — an eternity in the world of esports.
Zeus and Doran, LCK Priorities
In the midlane, Faker appears untouchable — he is the face of T1, the very symbol of global esports, and he seems here to stay. Oner, widely regarded as the best jungler in the world, remains under contract, giving T1 little reason to make a change. The same goes for Keria — no one in the world plays the support role better than he does. His creativity is irreplaceable, and his current level of play remains exceptional.
The two potential changes could come in the roles with expiring contracts, but that’s not the only reason behind the speculation. While T1 have just claimed their third consecutive title, the first two were not won with Doran, but with Choi "Zeus" Woo-je. Following the 2024 Worlds, a dispute erupted between T1, the player, and his agency during contract extension negotiations. While the two-time World champion wanted to remain with T1, this episode ultimately forcing Zeus to leave the team and sign with Hanwha Life Esports.
T1 acquired Doran in the exchange, but the split was not one either side truly wanted. Recently, the 2024 Worlds MVP toplaner congratulated his former teammates on their victory in the final. The toplaner position could therefore see changes in the LCK, as Doran and Zeus might trigger a game of musical chairs — with Zeus arguably being the best toplaner in the world — and both players’ contracts set to expire in the coming days. Zeus' contract is a 1+1 with a player option, meaning he can choose whether to re-sign with HLE rather than it being the organization's choice.
The Waltz of the AD Carries
In the LCK, the AD Carry role appears far more unsettled, with several big names approaching the end of their contracts, including Gumayusi, Park "Viper" Do-hyeon, Kim "Aiming" Ha-ram, Seo "deokdam" Dae-gil, and Shin "Smash" Geum-jae, making movement likely. For T1 and Gumayusi, nothing is certain — earlier in the year, the AD Carry was reportedly no longer favored by the coaching staff and was only reinstated by the board’s decision. Today, he stands as the MVP of the Worlds final.
Two other major AD Carry names also stand out. First, Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk, who is locked with Gen.G until the end of 2027 and therefore untouchable. The second is Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan, currently playing in China for JD Gaming, though the length of his contract is unknown, as the GCD is not up to date for LPL teams.
The LCK could therefore see significant movement given the number of high-level Korean AD Carries available on the market. Other names, like Nam "Diable" Dae-geun, LCK Rookie of the Year, have contract running until the end of 2026, but nothing is set in stone. T1 has fielded the OFGK roster for four years — an eternity in the world of esports, where rosters rarely stay together long, even when they win.
