JackeyLove said on stream that he doesn’t know whether he will play or not, citing medical reasons as well as the bidding system
The League of Legends Professional League (LPL) could introduce a new system in 2026, where players would no longer be able to choose the team they play for, but would instead be subject to a bidding, with the highest bidder securing the player's services. This would be a true upheaval in the LoL ecosystem, as the second-largest league in the world takes such a drastic turn.
This rule would not apply to players who played fewer than 2 BO3s in Split 3—they will not participate in the bidding and can sign directly with organizations. All other players must take part in the bidding. If a player refuses to participate, they will be banned for 2 splits. Likewise, if a player refuses to join the organization that selects them, they will also be banned.
A real turning point
This decision would therefore represent a major shift in the history of the Chinese league, which currently seems to be running out of steam—four years without a Worlds title, clubs leaving the league like Rare Atom, and others at risk of doing so soon, such as FunPlus Phoenix or Royal Never Give Up. The first round of bidding from organizations must exceed 70% of the salary cap. Their bidding points are linked to international results over the past three years and LDL results, with the highest weight given to this year’s performance.
In a stream following Top Esports’ loss to T1 in the 2025 Worlds semifinals, Chinese AD Carry Yu "JackeyLove" Wen-Bo spoke about his future. He had previously mentioned health issues that would force him to take a break in 2026, and this time he added that he would need to visit the hospital in the coming hours.
When the chat asked him whether he would play next year, JackeyLove replied that he didn’t know. He also said that the potential bidding system could deter him, as you can’t choose the teammates you’re going to play with and it’s up to the organization’s discretion.
