With the addition of Quid from 100 Thieves, Josedeodo from Isurus, and Morgan from OK Brion, Team Liquid will look to win their seventh championship
Team Liquid broke their long-awaited LCS championship drought in 2024. Fans and analysts predicted 2025 could be an opportunity for the roster to step up and evolve as challengers against Asian teams. Winning Split 1 looked like a step in the right direction, but after a disappointing performance at First Stand, TL never came back from Korea.
If Team Liquid were a racing team, the changes made to the car during the summer break were not enough to steer them back towards their goals. During 2025, jungle became a complicated puzzle for the 6-time LCS Champions. Um "UmTi" Sung-hyeon stepped down mid-season, citing personal reasons, and the transition to NACL standout Ganbat "Yuuji" Ulziidelger wasn't as clean as expected, plus his import residency status woes.
TL's solo laners from 2024, Eain "APA" Stearns and Jeong "Impact" Eon-young, struggled with consistency issues and uncharacteristic mistakes as the season progressed. Therefore, Head Coach Jake "Spawn" Tiberi, General Manager Kang "Dodo" Jun-hyeok, and new Assistant Coach Samuel "Spookz" Broadley decided a shuffle was needed if they wanted to stay competitive in 2026.
Heart and Soul
The duo of support Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in and AD Carry Sean "Yeon" Sung will enter their fourth year teaming up for TL. CoreJJ's longevity molded him into a supportive captain, and together, they have qualified for four out of six International events since 2023 and won two championships. Not only are they one of the strongest botlane pairings in the West, but both have North American residences, which helps TL use their import slots for the remaining positions.
Over the course of seven years, CoreJJ has shone thanks to his leadership and his extensive knowledge about the game. Though TL was up-and-down, Yeon remained the steadiest player and an important carry. His characteristic aggressiveness was present in 2025, as one of the few botlaners to have a first blood in every split he played. When TL can set up Yeon in a carry position, success usually follows.
The Present, the Lord, and the Tuki
Korean midlaner, Lim "Quid" Hyeon-seung, was brought in by TL to spread his success from the departing 100 Thieves. Quid had outstanding individual numbers during Split 3 and carried that momentum into the playoffs, which earned him a 2025 Split 3 1st Team All-Pro, the only non-FlyQuest player. Only one thing is missing in Quid's trophy case in NA: an LCS trophy.
Park "Morgan" Ru-han joins from LCK's OKSavingsBank BRION, the same team UmTi played for before joining TL. The General played a factor in pushing Lord Morgan to choose the North American team. As a short-term goal, Morgan will look to rally TL and win the 2025 KeSPA Cup, a title he won last year with OKBrion.
Can these roster changes return Team Liquid to their winning ways?
Though the rumor mill churned several resident names for the jungler, Spawn has nothing but compliments for the player who got selected: Brandon Joel "Josedeodo" Villegas. Veteran LCS fans might remember the Argentinian during his stint with FlyQuest. Spawn highlights his versatility and analytical mind as key reasons to sign the 25-year-old.
