More changes for better results?
Team Heretics are usually one of the most active organizations during each offseason. Year after year, the team struggles to gain momentum in the LEC despite ambitious roster moves and repeated attempts to build competitive lineups.
For the third year in a row, Heretics are making at least three changes to their starting roster ahead of the new season. Once again, the Spanish organization failed to go far in the playoffs and was quickly eliminated from the race to Worlds. A new page had to be turned in hopes of moving closer to higher ambitions.
A change in direction
To begin the offseason on better footing, Team Heretics decided to first address the coaching staff. After just over a year at the helm, Víctor "Machuki" Segura will no longer serve as the team’s head coach. Despite discussions, no agreement was reached between the parties. Assistant coach Ramón "Naruterador" Meseguer Fructuoso is also leaving the organization, paving the way for an entirely new staff.
Although Heretics considered several options, including Simon "Swiffer" Papamarkos and Arvindir "Arvindir" Singh, the team ultimately selected Jonas "Hidon" Vraa as its new head coach. The Danish coach, who previously held the position at Excel Esports, returns to competition after a year-long hiatus. He will be joined by Emre "Arkhe" Akpınarlı, who chose Heretics for his first LEC experience despite interest from SK Gaming and Natus Vincere.
A chapter closes
Under the guidance of the new coaching staff, every role was reassessed to build the strongest possible lineup for 2025. After three years with the organization, Victor "Flakked" Lirola reached the end of his contract. Despite discussions about a potential extension, the Spanish AD carry will not return next season.
Though the team reviewed many profiles, they ultimately chose Yoon "Ice" Sang-hoon as their new botlaner. The Korean AD carry joins after two seasons with Team BDS and will play alongside Paul "Stend" Lardin, whose position remained secure as he is contracted until 2026.
Two rookies out, two rookies in
Two additional changes were made in the solo lanes. Kamil "Kamiloo" Haudegond and Carl "Carlsen" Carlsen, both rookies this past year, will not continue with the team. They are replaced respectively by Tolga "Serin" Ölmez—coming off a full year with Galions—and by academy toplaner Sebastian "Tracyn" Wojtoń.
On the midlane, Heretics had evaluated several Korean imports and players across ERLs, but Serin ultimately stood out the most to the organization. As for the toplane, the team considered TCL prospects Baek "Mihilie" Sang-hwi and Kim "Zest" Dong-min before deciding to promote Tracyn, following the same path Carlsen took the year before.
Finally, Théo "Sheo" Borile—who had been granted permission to explore his options—will remain with Team Heretics. The team had shown interest in Iván "Razork" Martín amid uncertainty about his situation with Fnatic, but no agreement was reached. As a result, the French jungler will stay with the team for the upcoming season.
Team Heretics' reported roster for 2026:
- Toplane: Sebastian "Tracyn" Wojtoń
- Jungle: Theo "Sheo" Borile
- Midlane: Tolga "Serin" Ölmez
- AD Carry: Yoon “Ice” Sang-hoon
- Support: Paul "Stend" Lardin
