The Worlds MVP, Faker, will receive two skins: Sylas and Yone
The skins celebrating T1’s victory at Worlds 2024 are finally out. The wait was long, but all six skins are now here. The splash arts for the five champions as well as the prestige skin were revealed by Riot Games on Tuesday, August 26, to the delight of T1 fans and the League of Legends esports community. They are currently available on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) and will only be released to all players starting with patch 25.18 on Wednesday, September 10.
The champions had already been revealed: Choi "Zeus" Woo-je’s iconic Gnar, Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun’s Vi, and the Worlds MVP, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, the GOAT, who will receive two skins—one for Yone and a Prestige skin for Sylas. For the botlane, Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong chose Varus, while Ryu "Keria" Min-seok went with Pyke. Six champions on which T1 players shined during Worlds 2024 on home soil, and which fans will now enjoy either running down or carrying with in solo queue.
References to each player
The development and design team also added nods to the players in the champions’ animations. For Zeus’s Gnar, during his recall you can see him bumping his head against the Summoner’s Cup several times, a reference to the on-stage moment when Zeus tried to lift the trophy but accidentally hit his head. For Oner’s Vi, the Piltover Enforcer wears the T1 jacket in the jungler’s iconic style, with his name written on it.
All of the skins also feature the player’s signature. Faker’s Yone skin includes a special reference to him as well: during Yone’s animations, he makes a “shush” gesture with his finger to his lips, just like Faker often does. Gumayusi’s Varus has two references in his recall: first, the Baron steals that became the T1 AD carry’s specialty, particularly on this champion, and second, a nod to the quarterfinals and semifinals of Worlds being held in Paris, when in a post-match interview Gumayusi was handed a giant croissant, took a bite, then raised his thumb to the crowd while shouting “it’s good!”.
Initially, the players had considered other champions—Camille was the first option for the toplane, Renata Glasc for Keria, and Sylas as the primary skin instead of Yone. In the end, the players chose Gnar, Pyke, and Yone, and there even exists a concept art with those other champions that Riot ultimately abandoned. Faker therefore receives his ninth skin overall, adding to his collection on Zed, Syndra, Ryze, Orianna, LeBlanc, two on Ahri, and now Yone and Sylas. Gumayusi, Oner, and Keria each obtain their second skin, following their first ones on Jinx, Lee Sin, and Bard respectively. For Zeus, the Worlds 2023 MVP, this will be his third skin, as he already has two on Jayce.
