T1 confirmed that Zeus was never involved in any illegal contact and had always prioritized T1 throughout the process
In a video posted on T1’s social media channels on Wednesday, COO Josh Ahn issued an apology to Choi "Zeus" Woo-je, his family, and his agency ThePlay, acknowledging the misunderstandings and miscommunications experienced by Zeus’s camp following T1’s Worlds victory, throughout the offseason, and during this year.
Josh Ahn also confirmed that Zeus never engaged in any illegal contact with Hanwha Life Esports and had always prioritized T1, the team he wanted to stay with. An internal communication issue within T1 led to misunderstandings regarding timelines and offers during negotiations with Hanwha Life and ThePlay. These missteps resulted in distorted information and unfounded accusations.
To remain on good terms
On June 25, T1 met with Zeus, a family member and ThePlay to clear the air. After the discussion, T1 and ThePlay agreed to put their differences behind them and part ways on good terms. The organization also emphasized that Zeus was a key player for T1 over the past five years. Even though he’s now with a rival team, T1 continues to support his career. T1 also called on fans to stop any unfair criticism toward Zeus and to keep cheering him on.
This saga seems to be drawing to a close, with Zeus having joined Hanwha Life Esports and securing victories at the LCK Cup and First Stand earlier this year. Meanwhile, T1 acquired toplaner Choi "Doran" Hyeon-joon, who has shown promising performances. Both players remain under contract through the end of 2025, leaving the possibility open for roster changes in the upcoming offseason after the 2025 World Championship in China.
