Several figures from the scene have already weighed in on the idea, with most of them believing T1 would win
On Tuesday, November 25, 2025, Elon Musk announced on X his plan to organize a match in 2026 between the AI Grok 5, developed by his company xAI, and “the best human League of Legends team.” The specifics — including the date and which players or team will take part — are still unclear, but as the 2025 Worlds champions, T1 has already accepted the challenge, replying “We are ready, [are you]?” along with a GIF of Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok.
Riot Games has also gotten involved, with co-founder Marc "Tryndamere" Merrill replying to Elon Musk’s tweet with “Let’s Discuss :)”, hinting that the publisher could help organize the match. Several figures from the scene have also weighed in. LCS legend Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng commented: “If I lose to Grok, I’ll shave my head — no way this would happen.”
T1 is Favored Overall
Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski also reacted, saying: “Nah, my Goat Faker got this one.” Overall, most opinions suggest that T1 are heavy favorites. Given the conditions set by Musk — Grok can only look at the monitor through a camera, see no more than a person with 20/20 vision, and have reaction latency and click speed no faster than a human — many believe that the human team would still outperform the AI.
The use of AI for training or show matches is still not a common topic in esports, which is why the question of who would win between T1 and Grok is so intriguing. In competitive world, this kind of matchup is more common in games like chess, where top players regularly train and play against computers or AI opponents to improve.
