LoL: Sheep Esports’ LTA North Split 3 Power Rankings

LTA North returns on July 27 for Split 3, where all eight teams will have to give it their all to finish in the top three and qualify for the Regional Championship. There, they’ll face the top three teams from LTA South to determine the three Americas representatives for Worlds 2025, which will take place in China from October 14 to November 9. FlyQuest come in as the clear favorites, closely followed by Cloud9 and Team Liquid. On the other end, Disguised and Dignitas aren't expected to place high. It's been two years of FlyQuest dominance since the team assembled the core of this roster. And for next split, we at Sheep expect their reign to continue. FlyQuest, newly equipped with sixth-man toplaner İbrahim "Gakgos" Samet Bulut, are looking for another trophy to add to their quickly-growing collection. NA fans eagerly watched FLY crush G2 Esports in a one-sided 3-0 at MSI, and come tantalizingly close to besting BLG in five games. After having contested the best teams in the world for several international events in a row, FLY are expected to crush their competition back home.

Cloud9 isn't back — they never really left. After a hard-fought playoffs run in the 2025 LTA North Split 2, they were defeated by their domestic rivals, losing 3-2 to FlyQuest in the Grand Finals. C9 is entering in the LTA North Split 3 hungrier than ever. They are a team that thrives under pressure, with a blend of veteran experience and emerging talent.

Lee "Loki" Sang-min, the team's only rookie, hit his stride in Split 2 and proved himself one of the best midlaners in the league. The synergy between Robert "Blaber" Huang and his lanes remains the backbone of their tempo, while Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen’s leadership — and remarkable consistency — guides the team to wins in high-pressure situations. Other North American teams rise and fall, but Cloud9’s system remains intact, resilient, disciplined, and lethal when it matters.

Second place on our tier list doesn’t reflect weakness, but rather the razor-thin margin between a titan holding ground and one poised to reclaim the throne.

Team Liquid enters LTA North Split 3 as the dark horse, riding the momentum of a championship-winning run and a roster that blends seasoned veterans with fresh talent. After a turbulent start to the year, their mid-season resurgence, sparked by the arrival of Ganbat "Yuuji" Ulziidelger in the jungle, restored both their synergy and identity. Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in remains the heart of the team, providing leadership and composure, while Jeong "Impact" Eon-young, Eain "APA" Stearns, and Sean "Yeon" Sung deliver consistency across all stages of the game.

Their resilience in the playoffs and renewed coordination took them to the Lower Bracket Semifinals of Split 2, where they lost to Shopify Rebellion 3-1, proving that they are still a force to be reckoned with at the top of North America. FlyQuest and C9 have dealt with packed schedules since the end of Split 2, but TL got to scrim through the break against MSI teams without any of the travel drawback. North America's two spots at Worlds are, by no means, safe with FLY and C9.

Shopify Rebellion were the surprise of LTA North Split 2, finishing third after a strong lower bracket run where they clean swept 100 Thieves and took down Team Liquid 3–1. While it wasn’t enough to qualify for MSI or the Esports World Cup, it was still a strong showing for the organization. Whether or not they'll be able to replicate that Split 2 performance remains to be seen, but qualifying for the Regional Championship will be a tough challenge.

SR made no roster changes heading into Split 3: Ibrahim "Fudge" Allami has been solid in the toplane, while Juan Arturo "Contractz" Garcia and Cristian "Palafox" Palafox continue to work well as a mid-jungle duo. Their botlane also stepped up in the playoffs, thanks in part to the experience of veteran AD Carry Ju "Bvoy" Yeong-hoon and support Denilson "Ceos" Oliveira Gonçalves — one of the few South American players competing in the LTA North. Picking him up was a gamble, but that’s clearly paid off.

100 Thieves had a disappointing Spring Split, finishing 5th–6th after a heavy loss to Shopify Rebellion, despite having reached the grand final in Split 1 where they only fell to Team Liquid. The organization has since announced that this will be their final split before exiting the League of Legends scene, marking the last dance for a team that made a lasting impact in the Americas. They’ve kept the same roster and added Niship "Dhokla" Doshi to the coaching staff. With the right momentum, they still have the potential to reach the podium—but they’ll need to bounce back from their Spring slump to do it.

LYON haven't reached the playoffs once this year, and that trend doesn’t look likely to change. The team struggled heavily in Split 1, playing only two best-of-threes—both losses to Cloud9 and Shopify Rebellion. In Split 2, they showed slight improvement with three wins in the group stage but collapsed in the next phase and again in the Cross Group Battles against Dignitas. For Split 3, they've made a roster change, parting ways with Eric "Licorice" Ritchie and bringing in fellow Canadian toplaner Frankie "Zamudo" Lin from DarkZero Dragonsteel in the NACL circuit. Expectations remain low for LYON, with little hope of qualifying for the Regional Championship.

Here's one team with a long history of losing. That seems unlikely to change in the next split: stories of mismanagement and the shockingly swift departure of super-hyped rookie toplaner Jett "Srtty" Joye, whose DIG-published exit video laid blame at the team's rough environment, suggests DIG's chances are as low as ever. The team's new toplaner Kyeong "Photon" Gyu-tae, who has been fifth-and-sixth-ing in Türkiye's TCL, after exiting the LEC following a 9th-place finish on Vitality, hardly seems like the kind of star import that can save the team.

Disguised has simply struggled throughout the year. Their biggest worry for the remainder of 2025 may not be their performance in this split, but the ensuing demotion tournament against the hungry NACL and LRN teams clamoring for their Tier 1 spot. And while the team has seemingly made some upgrades — replacing a slumping Felix "Abbedagge" Braun with an eager rookie in CLOL champion Isaac "DARKWINGS" Chou and bringing in solid Korean botlaner Cho "Rahel" Min-seong — the roster still just seems to lack the cohesion and firepower it'd need to succeed in the LTA. DSG has won only two individual games all year: rather than wonder if they have a shot at the title, it seems more appropriate to ask if they'll pick up a third win.
