Riot Games opted to avoid headaches and reversed a change it was going to make to Ambessa
The preview of the patch notes 25.21 of League of Legends caused panic among MOBA players. That's because Riot Games was going to add a somewhat curious mechanic to the champion Ambessa, and the community did not react well.
According to the post, the champion's passive would now cause critical hits, which scared players given Ambessa's current status in LoL. Some time later, a member of Riot Games reported that it was just a bug fix, as the idea had always been for the champion to have this in her skill set.
Shortly thereafter, the same developer commented on the matter again and said that the changes would be permanently reversed. In other words, they would not even enter the official LoL server. According to him, it is a headache that the company does not want to deal with at this time.
''This is getting reverted. We’ve decided that the long term consequences of having to tune Ambessa around Sundered Sky is not in the best interest of the champ. Sorry for any confusion or whiplash.''
Ambessa's story
The champion is designed as a fighter, initially planned for the toplane, but could also be seen in the jungle according to some Rioters. Here is her short in-game biography:
"All who know the name Medarda respect and fear the family's leader, Ambessa. As a Noxian general, she embodies a deadly combination of ruthless strength and fearless resolve in battle. Her role as matriarch is no different, requiring great cunning to empower the Medardas while leaving no room for failure or compassion. Embracing the merciless ways of the Wolf, Ambessa will do whatever it takes to protect her family legacy, even at the cost of her own children's love."
Introduced in Episode 7 of the first season of Arcane, Ambessa Medarda is a general from the region of Noxus. Although her motivations remain mysterious, she appears as a very ambitious conqueror who will not hesitate to use violence and her military skills. She is also the mother of Mel Medarda, a member of the Piltover council who is also present since Episode 1 of the first season.
