The region's historic team leaves the league after six years on the game.
Riot Games announced via a statement published on Tuesday that the editor was ending the partnership between TALON and the LCP. This decision is justified by the financial difficulties encountered by TALON: "The decision was made due to Talon's failure to operate in accordance with league standards, particularly with significant delays in payments to players and coaches."
TALON communicated in response to this decision to write that the structure understood and accepted Riot Games' decision. Known for its partnership with PSG in recent years, TALON is a historic team from the LCP and PCS region that has participated in numerous international competitions in recent years.
Sad end for a face of the Pacific region
After being removed from VCT Pacific on VALORANT for the same reasons a few hours before, TALON are therefore facing the same fate on League of Legends. The recurring financial problems will have gotten the better of the team. In its statement published on its social media, the Hong Kong organization justifies these problems by "delays in the funding from our current financial round" which have "significantly affected our esports business operations across the board."
The players and coaches affected by this decision are free to explore their options on the transfer market during this period. Riot Games also specifies that they are actively looking for a team to take TALON's place in the LCP starting from next season.
Definitive end after years of glory
Few teams from the Pacific region can boast of representing the region as well as TALON. Best known in recent years for its partnership with PSG, temporarily suspended at the start of 2025, and forming the name PSG Talon, the team has taken part in most international competitions in recent years. With eight titles won in six years, PSG Talon has been one of the most dominant teams in the region until this year when the team faltered in terms of results and bowed to the rise of CTBC Flying Oysters.
Despite this, the team still qualified for the Worlds for one last tournament, where they were eliminated without winning a series. The team included iconic players who brought it glory in the past, such as Huang "Azhi" Shang-chih, Lin "Woody" Hung-yu, or the most well-known and its eternal franchise player: Huang "Maple" Yi-tang.
