The LCP will be the only path to international events for VCS, LJL and PCS
It is finally official, Riot Games has announced on Monday the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP), a major new league set to launch in 2025, merging the competitive ecosystems of Japan (LJL), Southeast Asia (PCS), and Vietnam (VCS). This eight-team league will be the exclusive pathway to international events like Worlds and MSI. While the LJL, PCS, and VCS will continue as separate leagues, they will hold year-end promotion tournaments, allowing top teams to compete for spots in the LCP. This league aligns with Riot's vision of creating a unified and more competitive Pacific region.

A few weeks ago, the LCO (Oceania) announced its disbandment, which was not mentioned in the recent LCP announcement. Despite Riot's prior commitment to include Oceania in the new circuit, the region seems to have been left out, while Vietnam (VCS), Japan (LJL), and the Pacific (PCS) remain intact. This decision raises questions about why Oceania’s ecosystem was dismantled while the other leagues continue, despite Riot’s claim to support inclusion, leading some to call out the perceived inconsistency and lack of transparency in the process.
