Since Bwipo represented the Americas in the video, the entire region will no longer appear
Riot Games announced on Wednesday evening that the release of the Worlds 2025 anthem, initially scheduled for Friday, October 10, has been postponed to Monday, October 13. The delay aims to give the production team enough time to edit the music video and remove the appearances of FlyQuest’s toplaner, Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau, following his recent controversial comments that had already led to a one-match suspension from his team.
Bwipo had stated: “...So when a woman is on the wrong part of the month to play competitively, there is a time in the month where you should not be fucking playing competitive games as a woman, in my opinion. This is my experience. I’ve lived with one a while. She played a lot of League ranked. It was really obvious when she was just getting super irritated at every little thing. And that’s not trying to be sexist or anything. It’s just the way it was.”
The twelfth Worlds anthem
Since 2014, Riot Games has released a new song each year to celebrate its biggest event, the Worlds. From the early days with Imagine Dragons’ legendary Warriors to the latest Heavy Is the Crown by Linkin Park, through iconic anthems like Rise, Legends Never Die, and GODS, Riot has turned it into an unmissable tradition that builds hype around the competition.
In 2025, the anthem will be performed by Gloria Tang Sze-wing, also known as G.E.M., a Chinese singer recognized as one of the leading figures in Chinese pop music and among the most renowned artists across the Greater China region.
