An early Christmas gift for T1 fans, who will head into the end of the year with great news. Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun has re-signed with T1 for two additional years, extending his stay until 2028, as his original contract was set to expire at the end of 2026.
The three-time World Champion had recently stated his desire to become a franchise player for the organization, and T1 have clearly granted that wish. Having joined the team in 2021, he will now remain with T1 for at least three more years. He will continue alongside Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, whose contract was extended at the end of July until 2029.
The Greatest Jungler in History
In this endless debate, Oner is undoubtedly one of the strongest candidates. He joined T1 in 2021 and was thrown straight into the deep end without going through the LCK CL. In his very first year, he reached the Worlds semifinals, then won the LCK in his second season and went on to reach the Worlds final. Since 2023, he has won three Worlds titles in a row. At just 22 years old, he is already one of the most accomplished players in the history of the game.
Other names are also often brought up. Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong won just as many Worlds titles and was just as legendary a jungler for SKT T1, forming an iconic duo with Faker. However, Oner still seems to have many years ahead of him to surpass Bengi’s legacy and achievements.
Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu is another name that often comes up in this debate. The 2020 World Champion with DAMWON Gaming, he once again went head-to-head with Oner this year at the top of the LCK, at the Mid-Season Invitational, and at Worlds. Canyon’s year was at times complicated, and a return to success on the mythical Worlds stage has yet to materialize for him.
