NACL MVP of both Spring and Summer 2024 has finally stepped into a Tier 1 league
At 22 years old, Ganbat "Yuuji" Ulziidelger has finally broken through the wall that had held him back for years — and he kicked it down in style. In his debut LTA series, the jungler posted a stunning 14/3/15 scoreline playing Viego and Pantheon, helping Team Liquid to dismantle Shopify Rebellion 2-0 and sending a clear message: the Mongolian Monster has arrived, and he’s more than ready.
After years of grinding, he finally stepped onto the main stage, this time with the full weight of a Tier 1 org behind him. And in return, Team Liquid head coach Jake “Spawn” Tiberi publicly congratulated not only Yuuji for his performance, but also Um "UmTi" Sung-hyeon, the veteran jungler who graciously made room for him in the lineup. This was more than a roster change. This was the long-awaited arrival of a player who’s been described for years as too good for Tier 2 — a sentiment now being proven true on the biggest stage in North America.
An unconventional success story
Yuuji's path to Tier 1 has been anything but conventional. Growing up in Mongolia, he learned to play League of Legends on 250 ping, grinding his way to Diamond on the NA server before discovering EUW and reaching Challenger within a year. Determined to chase a pro career, he moved to the U.S. for college, quickly rising through the amateur scene and earning a spot in NACL. Over the next two years, he became the most dominant jungler in the league, winning back-to-back MVPs with consistent, high-level play.
Despite his clear talent, Yuuji’s move to Tier 1 was delayed by technicalities. Originally set to count as an NA resident, his status was reversed at the last minute, costing him offers from both LTA and LEC teams. With import slots filled and visa windows closed, he was forced to spend another year in Tier 2. But when Team Liquid began reshuffling its roster after a rough start to 2025, Yuuji stood out in tryouts. TL signed him as a sixth man, and now, after years of waiting, he’s finally taken the stage — and proven he belongs.
