The LTA's North and South conferences will clash in Allen, Texas.
On Tuesday, the LTA has announced the location of its Regional Championship Finals, where the best-performing Split 3 teams from the North and South Conferences will clash to earn their tickets to Worlds: Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, a northern suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
The arena has a seating capacity for over 7,000 fans — though it's unclear how many of these seats will be available for Regional Championship attendees, given the natural limitations of live esports events. Tickets will go on sale at 10 AM PST on July 15th, two months before the big weekend.
In 2022, the LCS Finals traveled to Houston, where Evil Geniuses won their first — and only — LCS trophy off of Kyle "Danny" Sakamaki's now-legendary Jinx pentakill at Baron. That series, played in front of a deafening sea of fans, is considered one of the greatest LCS Finals of all time. Now, rebranded as the LTA, North America's biggest League of Legends event is headed back to Texas.
"We couldn’t be more excited to bring the first LTA Championship to Texas, bringing League Esports back after three years. With Worlds seeding on the line and the first-ever LTA trophy up for grabs, fans can expect two days of high-stakes LoL Esports action."
— Mark Zimmerman, LTA Commissioner
The inaugural LTA finals will make history — three teams will qualify for Worlds from the newly combined region, with one team guaranteed to qualify from each conference. For the first time, North America will send two teams to Worlds at most. Brazilian fans will watch their team qualify from thousands of miles away.
2025 is an experiment for the conference format; an attempt to cater to two vastly different audiences. So far, though, the reception to the LTA merger has been mixed at best. If the Regional Championship Playoffs and Finals live up to fan expectations for a clash between the best teams from across North and South America, the LTA may finally start feeling like a worthy successor to the CBLOL and LCS.
Tickets will be available on Ticketmaster — an oft-criticized ticketing partner that has become nearly impossible to avoid because of its monopoly on ticketing partnerships with stadiums and arenas across North America make. For years, fans have criticized Ticketmaster for allowing scalpers and bots to snatch tickets for resale value; resting on its laurels as an unchallenged monopoly instead of prioritizing the fan experience.
Almost every major event held in North America in the last decade — from Worlds 2021 to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour — has been defined by a nightmarish ticketing experience and the near-inevitability of widespread scalping and resale. This culminated in a DOJ anti-trust lawsuit filed against the company last year, though the process is unlikely to move forward under the current administration.
As a small relief to fans concerned about scalping, Riot has once again partnered with Mastercard to make 1,000 tickets available for purchase by Mastercard cardholders during a 24-hour presale window starting on June 14th at 10 AM PST.
