For the second year in a row, FlyQuest will go to Worlds as seed #1
Without suspense, FlyQuest claimed the Regional Championship title, dismantling Vivo Keyd Stars 3-1 in the grand final. Having already swept VKS 3-0 in the previous round, FlyQuest secured the third trophy in their history, all within the span of just one year. This makes them both the first and last regional champions of the LTA as it currently exists. The league will indeed rebrand and go back to a different format, once again distinguishing between the North American LCS and Brazil’s CBLOL.
Throughout the entire playoffs, FlyQuest exhibited sharper drafts, superior macro play, and won nearly every major teamfight. The final series saw FlyQuest take a 2-0 lead before Vivo Keyd Stars managed to push back in game three. However, the North American favorites closed out the series in game four with coordinated engages and objective control.
The final also marked Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau’s return to competitive play following his suspension. And he came back strong completely dominating his opponent. Meanwhile, rookie talent Ibrahim "GaKGoS" Bulut celebrated the very first title of his young career, highlighting FlyQuest’s mix of experience and fresh blood. Alan "Busio" Cwalina earned MVP honors for the series, finishing with a stellar 3/10/48 scoreline across the four games.
Lessons and expectations ahead of Worlds
With the regional title in hand, the biggest test still awaits. FlyQuest did not shine against Eastern opponents at MSI or the Esports World Cup earlier this year. They, however, are the only Western team to have brought an Eastern team in game 5, against BiliBili Gaming at MSI, reminding of their near-miracle run to the quarterfinals at last year’s Worlds. As they prepare for their Worlds debut on October 15, expectations will now weigh heavily on FlyQuest, alongside the other two LTA representatives, Vivo Keyd Stars and 100 Thieves.
